Yes it is possible to be on disability then improve and return to work. However, you have to have worked full time for a certain period of time to be eligible in the first place. SSDI follows a certain formula. SSI is for low income folks who also have documented that they can not work due to a disability.

Also, you have to have tried to work, but symptoms keep you from working. Then, initially, they will only deny you, especially for your age, feeling treatment will help you in time. UNLESS your MS is so progressive it affects your daily living and ability to function and work.

Sounds like you are looking for insurance, not disability check, right? Do you still qualify to be on your parents insurance? Wth the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) you qualify to remain on your parents insurance till age 26. Then, next year you will qualify for a subsidy to acquire your own insurance if your income is low enough.

i'm on my parent's insurance, but it's a high deductible plan and going to the doctor isn't affordable unless someone is literally dying.

i'm a dependant, so if i wasn't claimed next year, and since i live off of student loans, would that mean i could collect ssi?

**on a side note, i completely have lost faith in the political structures within the US and hope to move to another country, i would never want to raise a family in a country where standardized test scores determine how much teachers get paid and people with health insurance cant afford doctors visits, i'd much rather pay higher taxes, and everyone have access to affordable treatment, and better elementary schools

U can file and be on for a while then say you feel better, have a Neurologist write a letter saying that u r feeling better & r going to try to work. The down side of it is that it may take years for u to receive SSD.
