Unfortuantely, MS affects the auto-immune system and it seems that if one infection gets a grip, it can then kinda snowball from there. When you say you have a eye infection, is this a stye or similar?? If you don't mind me asking, what kinda infections have you been suffering from?? I found that any infections I get take a lot longer to get over than before even with ABX treatment which in itself can trigger other things off. When a infection hits, the immune system goes to war and that in itslef makes us feel lousy, when ms is involved though, the war may take longer to start then take longer to recover yeah?? Look at your diet, are you getting enough of the vits, minerals etc that you need, you may need supplements to boost your immune system and help it to fight these pesky infections. Have a look at others' profiles and see the treatments that they have tried to see if there is anything can help you. I do wish you better and hope this has been a bit helpful.

Thank you Zzzzowl. Your post did help me. I had been fighting a viral infection Cough/Cold symptoms. I let it go 2 weeks before I went to my PCP. He put me on antibotics and a cough surpessant. About a week later my eye started to bother me. I went to optometrist yesterday and she said that I have a bacterial infection inside my right lower lid. This infection caused a sore, which caused a corneal abrasion (which hurts). She gave me an antibotic "goop"for my eye and some pain meds that I can put in my eye directly. I am so so tired of feeling weak and tired. UGH!!!!

Symptoms can act up for a variety of reasons, most of which are in response to a temporary increase in your body temperature instead of any underlying disease activity. with a mild infection, causing even a 1/2 degree elevation in your core body temp can cause a pseudoexacerbation. Also, any infection in your body will cause your symptoms to flare. Rule of thumb with MS, don't let your body get an infection, and if it happens, see a doctor soon or your symptoms will come out.

I feel your pain.. I had 6 weeks of hell.. Was in a flare up (went to the Neuro 2 weeks too late to start treatments) Home health came to give me IV steroids in my home.. First day of Infusions I had horrible pains in back/bladder (had UTI) week of antibiotics... finished 5 days of solumedrol... still UTI... started another antibiotic... had bladder scope in the meantime that was normal.. went to clinic for a sinus infection/fever... steroid shot/antibiotic... week later more bladder pain went to same clinic (urine was clear) but my lungs sounded horrible(had lung infection) more antibiotics and steroids, breathing treatments..Did I mention I started Beteseron Injections in the middle of all this? copaxone wasn't working -- Of course, new injections made me feel like I had the flu..
I also had a swallow study done to see why I'm having troubles (it was normal) and my chest X-Ray is normal although I wake up like I'm drowning, coughing and gagging- no answers and my lungs tingle... So, this is the first week I'm not on steroids or Antibiotics for infection ! Oh, and my follow up with Urologist was that I still have traces of blood in urine and I'm just one of those that probably always will (no answer for it )----- so I feel your frustrations ! I just want to get well period !
