Hey everyone:
I thought I look into getting involved with the MS community both virtually and physically after 15 years with MS (dx at age 15 and now 30). I assume this site is a good virtual resource, but It would be great if someone could please tell me how I can get in touch with the MS community in my area. I'm not sure how that would help, but I figure it doesn't hurt. I guess I never wanted to get in touch with the community because of denial, which has taken a good 15 years. Thanks in advance!

Google search is always good!
I participate with the National MS Society Greater Northwest chapter and it's been very helpful to me.
I Know there are other MS communities out there and your county government might have a community resource list to get you in touch. Also, your doctor/neuro might know or local hospital. Just put yourself out there. I'm glad I did.

Here, the MS nurse got us going. She simply emailed as many as she could and we had a lunch date. From there we decided where we would meet and how often, then someone put meeting details in the local paper.

It works ok and I have met some locals who I would never otherwise have met.

Do a google search of the MS Society Chapter for your state. Get in touch with them, and tell them what you want to do. They will help you out.

Call some of these groups and see if they have a local chapter in your area.
