A friend sent me this link about modafinil. It's a controversial brain enhancing drug that helps with fatigue.

On my next visit I plan on asking my neuro about it but until then I was wondering if it has helped anyone here deal with fatigue?

Modafinil is the generic name for Provigil.

I didn't see this post when it was originally sent out.

I have taken provigil (or its generic) for about 9 years or so. It works but it is not perfect. I am still incredibly fatigued. Especially after a Rebif shot. Like today, I am really tired after having a busy day yesterday and then taking a Rebif shot last night. Only about 5 more weeks of Rebif and when it is gone, I will start on Tedfedera. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, provigil is not perfect but it helps. It can cause nausea and I have to take it on a full stomach in the morning and limit my coffee or it makes me feel sick.

A friend gave me two Provigil a while back and I tried them when I had some CAD work to do. Provigil helps me keep focused while drafting at the computer and made getting through the project easier. I spoke with my Neuro & he wrote a script but my insurance won't cover it and it costs a bundle. I ended up with Methylphenidate but rarely take it.

Thanks for the info! I have been dealing with fatigue with starting a new job. Finally I am more or less OK, used to the routine. Ginseng has been helping me! (I just take half a dose a bit before I do my shift, and luckily it has worked!) I was taking a nap mid-shift, and I haven't needed to for a few weeks. But I will check this out too (in case)!

Before Provigil, I used to take Amandadine. It is not quite as good but it does help some with fatigue. It is also helpful in fighting off the flu according to the drug inserts. It is very cheap and generic. I can't imagine any insurance company refusing to cover it. Also, it probably is cheap even without insurance.

Just a suggestion. You can look it up. I don't really notice much difference between Amandadine (sp?)and Provigil but Provigil hurts my stomach.
