I had a flare up last/this month & optic neuritis very bad with loss of sight in one eye & continual blinking & some loss of eye in other eye. While I was in hospital for the drip & neurologists came around they suggested the botox for the eye. The opthomology dept had also suggested this but I didn't know if they were going to do anything yet or not.

Forward to today & I got a phone call from the hospital with an appointment for Botox injection in my eye (I am presuming bad one only). This is scheduled now for the 1st August.
What I am wondering is has anyone had this? Does it hurt at the time? Am I able to see after the injection or will it be numb or closed?

Would appreciate any information/stories on Botox even if not the eyes. Still scared about it & worried if it hurts or what it does. Will it actually help to keep my eye open & stop it blinking all the time?

Don't know if this will help but my son was a pioneer in botox for the eyes. He had severe strabismus as a child and had 3 injections of Botox (in the OR as he was so young) and into the eye muscle. Yep his eye straightened out and he saw wonderfully for 3 months each time. After the 3rd try we decided general surgery was necessary and he is now 21 and sees fine, has relatively straight eyes BUT has NO depth perception and no one can figure out if it was from the Botox injections or the actual surgery. But, as I said, for 3 months he was strabismus free and with straight eyes. I think, like all our drugs, this is an enigma too. So why not give it a try I guess.

I have been told about this, Because I have bad nystamus in my left eye...well in both but not to bad in right eye... I am a big wuss and even though bad I am too nervous... please let us know how it all goes good luck

I actually thought I had responded last night but it didn't take for some reason. Thank you for sharing your experience with your son having the injections. Can you remember if it hurt him at the time or if he was given local anaesthetic?
Koda1 - I am a wuss too & scared of the needles esp in the eyes. It takes 2 people to hold my eyes open for drops etc.
I will let you know when I have been in what happens for sure.

Hoping more will respond, maybe I have posted under wrong category too?
