Wow. I had a visit with family doc and neurologist today. I will try to sum it all up for you. Went into family doc first. She went over all my symptoms again. Noted that my weight loss was now up to 17 lbs in less than 2 months. :( She did the exam and questioned me when I flinched during the part where they press on the abdomen and pelvis area. She said my lower left quadrant was rock hard and swollen. Well I already knew this but figured it was another ovarian cyst. I get them alot but they normally resolve in 1-2 weeks. This pain has been here over a month. She went over the symptoms of weight loss, dizziness, diarrhea and all the fun stuff that has been happening and told me point blank she is worried that I may have ovarian cancer (it runs in the family with 3 paternal aunts having been dx with it). She also says to be on the safe side she wants to run a CA125, a complete thyroid panel with thyroid antibody tests to check for autoimmune thyroid conditions, a complete hormone profile, a CBC and a chemistry panel. And I go TOMORROW for a CT of pelvis and abdomen. Wow my head is spinning. So after being there so long I barely have enough time to get to my neuro appt on time. I get there. Inform her what just happened at my other visit and we move on. We discuss MS, complex migraines and gynecological cancers. She proceeds to tell me that she reveiwed my prior MRI and that the enhancing lesion reported as an angioma definately was NOT an angioma. I sort of laughed and told her I had figured this out through my own research just this last week. She proceeds to tell me that while my symptoms are consistent with MS they could also just as easily be complex migraines except for one thing...the weight loss. Migraines just don't do that. Then she tells me that she also wants to run some bloodwork and wants a new MRI of head and neck WITH contrast. When I got home I looked up the blood tests she ordered and 2 of them (anti-yo and anti-ri) are apparently markers for gyn cancers that can cause neurologic symptoms. Never even heard of such a thing.
So now my head is totally spinning. All in one day the concern of MS was confirmed and the chance of ovarian cancer was stated. Sorry for the novel. I know this isn't a cancer forum, but you guys have been great and I thought I'd fill you in.
What are the odds I could get 2 horrible dx at one time with MS AND ovarian cancer. I am freaked out. I will definitely be getting the CD of my cat scan tomorrow before I leave the hospital.

I know it is easy to say but try to stay positive until you know the results. Just make sure you get in and get those tests done and keep us all informed.
I too have weight loss with the mS and the only meds I am on is Rebif and Cipramil tablets for slight depression and fatigue. I have lost weight over the last two or three months. I have recently had the whole "full blown checkups" as cancer is rife in my family too. If this all comes back fine then make sure you get the whole medical done as often as they want you too so then you at least know you are doing everything you can.

try to look at the bright side of things..you have doctors that are on top of things and looking out for your best interest and having tests done right away
if the news is bad, you are taking care of it early. we are all here for you, dont forget that. im glad you posted this all for us to read

My thoughts are with you.
IF there is an issue it looks like they are finding it early..which is good.
IF..IF this happens to be the case then I agree with you talking to your doc about removing these tissue might be the best bet given your family hx.
IF all of this happens I would look into Estriol and Progestrogen as you need these hormones working together for proper body absorption.
No MATTER WHAT...you have a lot of people rooting for you.

It may be hard to get 2 different possible dx at once, as others have said it is good that your Dr's are on top of it all quickly. I hope you get the answers quickly & get what treatment may be required quickly.

I had total hysterectomy, ovaries and cirvex removed when i was 25 now nearly 57. I had endometriosis, fibroids and dodgy cells. The pain was terrible and my periods awful and also i had prior to this 2 operations to remove large cysts on my ovaries one when i was actually pregnant which was the size of a jaffa orange.
To be honest even though surgical menopause was a nightmare once it all settled down my life was so much easier. I was just unfortunate at 25 to go through it badly, not everyone does.
The one thing i will say though I have never taken HRT, and i have good bones, still have good hormone levels, strong nails, great skin and lots of curly messy hair LOL.
If you can and you feel happy with this decision i would go for it. Just be mindful that you might have a rotten time for a bit, BUT it does get better.
