Bless your heart. That is a horrible feeling. I only feel that way every now and again and it usually doesn't last long.. Spells of Vertigo make me feel that way sometimes.. I keep Phenergine pills and gel to rub on my wrist b/c that feeling brings severe nausea. The gel phenergine has been the best thing ever ! I also can take Valium for dizziness or Mclizine if the room is spinning or bobbing up and down.. I hate you have to deal with that so much... Do you think it's an inner ear problem?

That is exactly what i am feeling at the moment. This was a major symptom when i had my first big flareup in hospital. Serious vertigo but left with a feeling of being at sea afterwards. I feel worse when in the dark, because my eyes help me keep my balance. I have worked the past few days with it and it takes all i can muster to keep upright and not fall over.Someone is ROCKING MY BOAT!You have to try and live with it I suppose because I dont think mine is going to go away anytime soon.

oh yes- sorry to say- they do have -pills-4 that too!! ha- like antivert-i think its called-probably other meds!-i just am careful till it passes- myself-hugs

All day, every day. When I first told my doctor about this, before I was diagnosed, his eyes got very wide and he said, "That is very concerning." So, I just assumed it was part of the illness. I am not good at asking questions, I guess I need to follow up on that. :)

I also have the sensation that the car is still moving when it is in park. Now, that is scary! This disease sucks!

A few years ago it was the 4th of July. I was more mobile then and was out on a small boat to see the fireworks. We docked and as I got out I reached for a piling for support, Next thing I knew I was at the bottom of the lake. No more boats for me. It was vertgo and I tipped over.

I had a test later confirming it was from an MS lesion. Not true vertigo.

I still get it now and then. I find too that Phenergan is the best thing for nausea. Meclizine sometimes helps dizziness but not always.

I also have the car thing. This disease truly does suck.

There is nothing worse than vertigo that puts me on my back with my eyes closed to get rid of the feeling. I find that the medication to aid with the feelings as Melanie cited, only make me sleepy and drowsy and do not help the symptoms go away. I have been experiencing these feelings for 10+ years and find nothing really works. Don't know how you can convince yourself otherwise. Sometimes the rocking spinning motion makes me feel like the ground is gone under my feet and this is usually when I fall over. Horrible feeling!

I've been dealing with vertigo for over 15 years now. It's been one of my most persistent symptoms next to spasticity and dystonia. I've had 3 VNG tests done by doctors of audiology all confirmed that in my case it is central vertigo. However, vertigo can have different causes and only a specialist can determine exactly what is causing it. It is more commonly caused by inner ear problems. Call your neurologist and they can refer you for testing. Normally, individuals don't have more than 1 or 2 VNG tests at most. For me the only thing that usually will stop my vertigo is solu-medrol or acthar otherwise it generally just keeps getting worse and will continue for months. I take zantac or meclizine to help with the nausea.

I get this often & even when I am sitting down, esp if I am upset or hot/cold & then for no reason. I haven't found anything other than the maxalon to help with it. Had tried ginger tablets that were supposed to help but they did nothing for me.
I was actually ok when I was on a cruise other than when it was rough then I was sick very quickly.
