Great that it has helped! How about with spasticity? I take oral Baclofen at night and that has helped my leg stop hurting so I can sleep. I go to the neuro in Feb. and I was gonna ask about the pump. What was it like having the pump put in?

I had severe spasticity that at times was debilitating leading to emergency room visits and even long hospital stays. Oral Baclofen had been tried but in any dose above 10mg just is too strong for me to function. Since receiving the pump the spasticity is almost non-existent.

As for the procedure, it was a very easy process. The whole process from pre-op to post-op took about 3 hours. It is surgery so there are risks but for me it was worth the risk.

Recovery was not bad either. I had to stay in bed on my back for a day. For pain, I was given morphine and vicodin. By the afternoon of the second day, I was up for a few minutes at a time. On the 3rd day, I switched to Tylenol and was pretty much able to move as I wanted. Full recovery took about 3-4 weeks. At the time of my surgery, I was an in-patient for physical rehab. Because of that I had nurses and doctors available to me around the clock. I also had physical therapists who pushed me to get active.
So far I have had no adverse effects; it has only been 6 months so time will tell. As for downsides, there is a slight bulge where the pump is located (call me vain if you like). It is not easily noticed as long as I dont wear shirts/blouses that are very clingy. Another downside would be having to get the pump refilled (my refill will be in Jan). And I guess the biggest is the fact that the pump will have to be replaced in about 7 years.

Overall it was a good choice for me and I don't regret doing it.
