Hi,

If anyone out there is taking avonex, I'm curious if it wipes you out? I had the injection last night and the achiness was next to nothing, but the fatigue was unreal. I am still so tired after sleeping pretty much all afternoon. Even the amontidine doesn't seem to be effective in giving me a little boost of energy.

I realize that this side effect only lasts for around 24 hours, although it seems to be lasting for nearly two days lately (the fatigue). I also know that fatigue is part of this disease, but there is a definite difference between the Avonex fatigue and regular MS fatigue.

Perhaps someone else is experiencing the same thing? Or maybe one of the other CRAB drugs has the same side effect?

I have been taking Avonex since 2000. And it wipes me out and even still I sometimes feel achey like I have the flu. The really weird part for me is that sometimes I don't feel the side effects until the second day.
Don't let this stop you from taking it. I just got my MRI's and I still haven't had any new leasion. That's good. Some of my MS symptoms have been uglier, but that is due primarily to stress.
If you start to ache, try Advil. I was told by my Dr to take four right before I took my shot, this would help through the night. And to just take the Advil if the aching countinued through the next day.

Avonex was the first MS drug I tried. The flu symptoms eventually abated, but the fatigue was constant. It was the reason I switched from that drug to Copaxone after a year.
