I have been on Avonex since 2011. My doctor recently took me off of it because she thinks it has something to do with my depression. I did not have any new lesions with it. Well maybe one small lesion but nothing to be too concern about. Some times I would get the flu like symptoms. I had to make sure I drank plenty of water the day of the injection. I also took Aleve during the day. I had to take four of Aleve that day in order to not have the flu symptoms. Most of the time it helped. I usually got a headache from it. I wish you the best with it.

I am also on Avonex. Changed from Rebif at the beginning of this year. Find Avonex way better than Rebif. I used to suffer badly with flu symptoms on those injections. Much better with Avonex. Also such a pleasure that its only once a week as opposed to 3 times a week.

I have been on Avonex since 1996. Used to have flue like side effects when first on it.. They gradually diminished in time. Not consistently though. I would have good weeks and bad weeks.
For many years now I get no side effects at all. Look at it as a minor inconvenience.
Use the powdered form a personal preference.
