My Primary Care Physician gave a prescription of Mirtazapine to me as a sleep aid. In fact, here is what it says on the bottle:
TAKE ONE TABLET BY MOUTH EVERY NIGHT AT BEDTIME FOR INSOMNIA
As a sleep aid it was totally worthless to me.
I asked my Primary Care Physician for Ambien; which does work. However, the welfare plan I am on will not cover Ambien CR. They will only cover regular Ambien; the generic name is Zolpidem.
Ambien (Zolpidem) only helps me soundly sleep for four hours or so. However, half is a lot better than nothing.
Early this week the welfare plan I am on expired so when I went to buy Ambien (Zolpidem) it was for the full price. Needless to say I didn't buy it. However, I had one unused bottle of Mirtazapine so I am taking that for now. This upcoming Monday I have an appointment with that welfare plan to get my benefits re-established; which will allow me to resume Ambien (Zolpidem).
In fact, I took a tablet of Mirtazapine while I was typing this post. The tablet is 15 mg. I never thought of slicing it in half. For me, half of nothing is still nothing.
I used Cymbalta for my depression and used it for several years. A few months ago I stopped taking it since I felt that many of the awful issues in my life were now being handled better by me. However, I noticed that Cymbalta was now being advertised as pain relief so that is something else to consider.
