Consider Tysabri- I'm on Medicare and medicare covers that under part B, so between my supplimental insurance and medicare it doesn;t cost me anything,. If i got an injectible med through Part D I think it would AVERAGE about $300-400(?) I forget how much it averages monthly on Part D, I just remember it made Tysabri very attractive.

Funny thing with Part D there is a maximum out of pocket one can spend after that Medicare Part D covers the drugs at 100%---and that point was at the 12 month point of betaseron. Like if it were a 13 month calendar, Medicare Part D would have covered my betaseron 100%. I thought that .....?
Almost like they set up the maximum out of pocket payment based upon MS drugs.

And in the donut hole it would be full price just the yearly average is up there.

It doesn't surprise me to hear the PA programs are out of money, the demand must be high in this economic situation. I was on a patient assistance program for my betaseron and I had to apply each year for it with the warning that because I was on the PA did not =mean I would be approved the for it in the current years application---it really was a VERY large reason I went to Tysabri.

My dad recently hit Mediicare age after an earl retirement from the piost office. The insurence he had from the post office converted to his supplimental insurance when he qualified for Medicare. I'm not certain if you have that going on too, but if so Tysabri won't cost you anything.

Provides the insurance companies with immediate feed back that it is just gonna cost the more if they raise the copays on self injectible meds. BTW rebif is the most expensive one and Betaseron will be out with the first generic(bioidentical) next year when its patent expires. So next year it will get less expensive.

And Tysabri is the most expensive so your insurance company should learn from their raising the copays.

if you were to go on tysabri.. they do have a program to help financially.

Ask your neurologist or go on rebif and see who the drug company is.. see if they can help.. maybe

I use copaxone and pay zero they help you with co pays

I'm guessing that you issue is one of not poor enough! But not rich enough to afford treatment with out serious impact on quality of life?
Hence help is not so readily available?
That why you have contacted numerous programs and found no help?
Tysabri would be covered within your insurance, check out how much it would end up costing you.
Tysabri has case managers that do that for a person after the tysabri order is written, before started. Perhaps they assist a person thinking about switching before switching?.
