I believe that this therapy is related to the research done by NASA on light therapy. It was discovered that certain lights used in ceertain ways can do many things. I have actually had this form of therapy, sort of. I know someone outside of Chicago that is part of a company that developed a light system using this technology, and the minute the FDA cleared it, they began offering it as a "service." Now, many people go there because it is supposed to help with aging, and the blue panel is supposed to really help with skin conditions, etc.
I can't afford to go alot. I am hoping that as the FDA clearance becomes clearer, it may become something that is recoginzed more as a medical tool, and it will be available more and at a lesser price.
Here is what I can tell you...
I got treatments that were all the different lights, there are three basic colors, and each panel targets a certain thing, but they all have some of the same results. One of the things about the blue is that it is supposed to work with the melatonin levels, and help give better sleep, mood elevation through effects on seratonin. There are alot of claims, you know, to make people spend money...but here is my experience...
Very, very relaxing. Definitely the two or three days after, more energy, that is for sure. And definitely better sleep, so maye the two are related. As to pain, tingling, I would say that less pain, but maybe more tingling, maybe something is stimulated in one way or another, not sure, I have been trying to figure that one out.
Overall, I would say that as someone who is really always looking for less meds and more natural, this was something that, if I could afford it, I would definitely continue to see what it could do. It is also very relaxing and that is great.
If you google NASA light therapy, or FDA approves light therapy, you will find alot about the different ligths and the claims of what they can do.
I know there is a possibility of a placebo effect, but I would say that I was really aware and looking for that, a natural cynic when being asked to give up money!
I did share the info with a friend on here, but never on a board, Idid not want to appear that I was in any way advertising for this business, or the therapy. But if you live in or around Chicaog and want to find out more, there is a place that offers the first visit free, no obligation, and it is also very interesting to read the literature.
So please keep us posted, I am curious to know what color lights they use, how they target your specific issues, all of it. I really hope it helps!
So Nikki I have a question. Have you ever used a light box and if so how did it work in comparison??
Thanks,

What I am not so sure of is whether that light actually stimulated any kind of chemical reaction, other than that of to sunlight, which although not a small thing, is not the same as the others. Also, when I was using that light box alot, I did not know I had MS, so I was not evaluating things in the same way.
These lights, and again, I have not nearly as much experience with them as I would like, seem to be different in that they feel like they are doing other things, having more of an effect on my system. I will tell you that I slept so well the three nights after I was there, really, it was startling to me, and I am sort of always looking to not believe the hype.
I did not feel heat, it was not like sunlight. At the time I was trying the light box. I was having the things I was taking about on the HouseofBoo"s thread going on, and also tremors. It seemed to have no effect on them, or on the aches in my muscles. But I think that I would like to continue with these lights because there just might be something to it, or at least I would liek to make sure if there is or is not.
I think that the light box was, is, very good. But I don't think it actually stimulates enough changes in the production or release of things in the body to actually be the same as these lights, but again, that is just my thought now.
If I am in a postion to have a little extra money to try something new for my heatth, it will be these lights. i am interested, but not a cheerleader, if that makes sense.
