I'd be completely/totally lost without my 3 cats. They love me always no matter what. One of my cats waits for me to go to bed and waits for me to get up in the morning. She was a rescue case and very sick when I adopted her. The gratitude she shows has never stopped.

I like my cats a lot more than most people I know. They are my "best friends". I believe they are great companions for anyone with an illness that spends a lot of time at home and in bed and is rather lonely. :)

you are so right! I left work in april so im home alot now, they are great companions! :)

I wish I was about 75% better. I'd love to be able to go and walk dogs that are stuck in all the time at our local SPCA...Dog home for unwanted animals...its not an option at present...

Since I feed my cat right before I go to bed, he gets noiceably nervous if I happen to lay in my bed early in the evening before feeding him. He also starts pacing and meowing if we get out our suitcases for a weekend trip where we leave him home alone. They are funny creatures.

My two have been so affectionate to me since my relapse started. They definitely know things aren't right for me and follow me round. Some nights they sit outside the bedroom and bellow to see if I'll come out and fuss them.

Brandon - I'm the same about feeding them before I go to bed. They soon tell you when they think it's bedtime!

Mine haven't figured out when I go away, but boy do they sulk when I get back :o(

When I had my kitty kitty's, they were silly too. They could be on the other side of the house, but the minute they heard a can of food open (they were picky and only ate fancy feast no less) they would run to the kitchen. Why? I have no idea, because that same sound is the same when you open a can of like campbells chunky soup or something with the pop top and they wouldn't run for their lives when I opened stuff like that... hmmmm

My cats get all upset when they see the suitcases come out of the closet too! I was not aware that they would be that way or that others had the same issue with their kitties.

Like yall, mine know when I do not feel well too. Well, one of mine does. My male cat had been neutered when he was very young but he stil has a lot of Tom cat behavior and is not a real sensitive male:) But my female, even though she was spayed as a little one too (I got them at different times), she seems to have senses and is very aware if I am upset and have been crying about something and if I feel bad and go to bed during the day to rest, she comes in to check on me and the male cat could care less!

My girl cat also seems to have a keen maternal thing going on even though she has never had babies or went into heat before she had her surgery. So, it seems odd to me that when our grandbabies were new that she was so attentive to them and she does not like strangers in the house and will go hide until they leave....unless there is a baby. Then she will come and sit right by the baby and just watch it. And the male cat could care less. All he wants is for someone to pay him attention and pet him. He is truly an attention hog. He is actually jealous of our toddler grandchildren now when they are here because he is no longer the center of attention. They are strange creatures!

My cats come running any time I use the ice dispenser on the fridge. They love ice water. I have noticed that my golden is more gentle when I feel crappy. They are all so smart. Nothing better than cuddles and kisses when you are feeling bad!

It shows a good relationship between your animals and yourself wehn they are attuned to you in this way. I would be lost without my dog, 2 cats, parrot and 20+ chickens!!COL!!

As soon as I wash my face, Artie jumps in bed with his toy of the moment. This week it's Tiny Duck...lol. He just knows. LOVE HIM!

you all are so blessed to have your animal. I want someone to be with me and cuddle and accept my affection because I don't get out much, and I don't really have anyone to talk to all the time, only my husband and kids. I get tired of them! sometimes it's good to have somebody just listen, and a pet that I could love and cuddle would be so welcomed. My husband won't agree, because he worries he will end up caring for the animal when I'm sick, and the cost. I took my gerbil to the vet once, and it cost me $60. I only paid $10 or less for it (and it passed too)! So, I'm happy you all have animals to love you, and feel compassion for you when you need it most. You are so lucky, count your blessings...

Do you know that dogs adjust their sleeping schedules to your own? I've noticed this (and read about it), in having these two pooches for ten years. If you go for a nap in the middle of the day, or stay up till 4 am reading, they are right there with you, snoozing.

Dogs definitely do that. Cats, however, seem to really think that they are in control of all scheduling. They also seem to think that they are in control of most activities. For instance, if your plan is to sit down at the computer, they need to sit in the chair you are heading for and sort of look at you like, "You weren't really planning to sit here, were you?"
