It has been quite a while since I've been on here, I had my 6 month visit with my neurologist today.....after suffering since this past August with walking and balance issues, he has now recommended taking Amprya. I know nothing about it until today and wondering if anyone out there has taken it and how it has helped. Thank you :)

I have been on Amprya for a year now. First 3 months I seemed to improve,since then seem to be holding steady. No side affects sure is easy to take 2 pills a day. Message me if you have any other questions best of luck. Chuck

I started taking it about 6 yrs ago 2 times a day. A few months later I had a petite-mal seizure. Went off for 6 months. Have been taking 1 each day since'. Helps my walking.

I have been on it for two years! I couldn't walk at all if I didn't have it!

I've been on since July/August time frame of 2011, the biggest improvement I notice was my right foot felt like a cement block. The Amprya took that feeling away which enabled me to walk better.

I had been on Ampyra some time back, and it was definitely helping my walking. Neither my wife nor I realized I was starting to have little seizures [petit-mal], and then I had the big tonic-clonic one while driving on I-10 here in Houston [slow moving traffic, manual car, stalled, didn't hurt anyone or myself], Why my neurologist didn't take me off this immediately, I don't know, but he was certainly ready to put me on the anti-seizure drug Keppra. This drug significantly reduced the small seizures, but I felt it deprived me of a will to live! I have been off BOTH of these for over two years now. Walking much worse and shorter distances, but Ampyra obviously doesn't react well with me. ALL cases are different, though!

My doctor was interested in putting me on this but we did a speed walking test in the hallway & he said I was walking faster than what the guidelines said a person who could benefit from the drug should be walking at. I was kinda disappointed though because for a short distance I did well but I feel I need help w/balance & stamina does it help for that?

I have to do the walking test every year in order to keep on Ampyra. It is a drug that helps with walking speed in MS patients. I have been taking daily since 2011, and I love the results in increasing the speed of my gait. Good Luck!

I am jealous of you, my MS nurse suggested Ampyra and after I got excited she said "oh you can't have it because of your epilepsy" Walking and balance are the symptoms that annoy me most, I would have loved to try Ampyra. :-(
