i was diagnosed when i was 12, and now the most common age of diagnosis is 15-60, it used to be 20-60, with younger ms being very rare

it's sad, from experience, ms is not a fun thing to have as a child, and teachers in school can be very misinformed, i really hope people can find the cause of ms in pediatric patients soon

When I was in my 20s, I never knew anyone with MS. When I was in my 30s, I never knew anyone with MS. When I was in my 40s I was dx with it and I met one person with it. Now, 15 years later, everyone I know knows someone with it and usually has a relative with it. It is in the food we eat, the air we breath and the pollution around us. I think that it is the toxins that around us.

It is becoming so common. My neurologist who retired came and spoke to our support group and he had some really young people with it. I believe he had a toddler with it. It is becoming so common that it is ridiculous.

I was 34 when dx. I had never heard if it before. Now it seems to b a somewhat common illness. My husband, my Neurologist and I have been closely monitoring my 14 year old son since he was 10. It's frightening how common it seems to be now, as well as the young age.

Yes, MS is becoming more and more common, and especially among the pediatric groups.

When I was 18 I walked a MS walk. I had never heard of Multiple Sclerosis before, and even after the walk was not very well informed. It is ironic that in my later years I was diagnosed.

I have MS as do/did two of my siblings. I was diagnosed in my early thirties and siblings in their late twenties. No one in my family on either side had MS nor do any of our children. The children are now in earl twenty ( one ) and three in middle to late thirties. No one else has MS.

I was diagnosed at 19 but had symptoms at age 5 at LEAST! ALLLLLLL the adults thought I wasn't trying hard enough or paying attention, or LISTENG WHEN I was spoken to!! Had the water TOO HOT when I took a shower and got all too tired to stand anymore!
It was ALWWAYS MY FAULT and I MADE MYSELF SICK!

I wish they'd find out a way to SEE it in healthy people KIDS sooner too!

Nobody in my family has or had it that we KNOW of. Though it's always possible that a bunch of great great grandfathers/ uncles of mine killed themselves BECAUSE they HAD IT and COULDN'T walk, work anymore...
Yes I hadn't heard about it myself until I saw a TV commercial in HIGH SCHOOL that said "We are closer than before to understanding this unpredictable illness! It won't be long before we find a cure! Please Join us in the fight!!"

Being a 15 year old HS punk; I said out loud to my friends in a sarcastic tone "Well OF COURSE they want money! AND OF COURSE they're closer to understand it!!! Would they FORGET what they already know about some illness THAT NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT or ANYONE WITH IT??!!?!"

Is that bad karma that I said that? And why I have it now???

I have been having symptoms of it for awhile now and still dont have a dx yet. But now they are testing my 16 yr old son for several things including MS.... doctor said Friday they would be calling me on Tuesday (after the holiday) to schedule his MRIs ughhhh im so scared! I think its so scary with him because he was dx with a seizure disorder at age 6 and at that time they had done a MRI.... i remember when the results of the MRI came back the neuro doc called me and questioned me if he ever had any head trauma which i said no he had never had anything happen.... the neuro doc said there was a small spot on his MRI that had showed up but that not to worry it could be nothing. Now 10 years later they worried enough to test him for MS and other things.... very scary!
