Hi everyone!! I haven't been on in ages, I have actually been doing really well since my bad attack last year. I have been on Betaseron for a year now, and just had a new MRI last month and no new lesions had shown up to join the party and the ones that are there are behaving themselves. so my neuro was a happy boy.
So now the last few days I have been having this dizziness come over me. the vision in my right eye is doubled, and my right lips feel like they have been shot with novacaine! So I am sitting here with my pirate eyepatch on, and I need to got a bib cause when I drink it just runs out the right side of my mouth!! Damn I feel SEXY!!!
I guess going through long periods with only mild to none symptoms you tend to forget about this disease and then BAM! It turns around and smacks you in the face!! I am praying these a just temporary set back symptoms cause I can't see me having a relapse after just having a good report on my MRI!!!
My main obstacle is keeping my nerves at bay...I think my anxiety and panic take over are worse than the MS!!! I got so scared and upset yesterday I made myself vomit!! Any advice on how to keep yourself calm and not freak out over every symptom that pops up?? I have been taking more of my Klonopin and left a message for my neuro to call me tomorrow. I just hope this is something that will pass soon without having to go the steroid route again!! I think I do halfway decent with dealing with this stuff until it messes with my eyes then I am PANIC CITY!!!!

Ahh...I read that it takes 30 days for a new lesion to form. If you had a positive MRI report LAST month you have had time to form a brand spanking new lesion since then.

I was interested in that because when newcommers go on steroids, for a while all kinds of sensory type sensations are noticed and the panic is that they are having a new relapse or lesion.

So whenb I read it takes 30 days to form a new lesion, I thought it was comforting for newcommers to know after doing steroids. Those sensation symptoms will calm down, all lesions that were in existence at the time steroids were done have been treated, it takes 30 days to form a new lesion.


In your case it is less than comforting. You have had time to form a new lesion since your clear MRI.. You know the routine. If the new or worsening symptoms last for 48 hours, report it to the neuro. And insomonia becomes a part of your near future.

I hope these are just psuedo symptoms and they clear up before 48 hours. Take care and keep us informed, because I am interested if it can be that fast. I hope not.

I had my MRI on the 11th so i don't think it has even been 30 days yet. I wondered too if I pushed myself too hard last week....I had cleaned the crap out of my house shampooed carpets, couch, ect...and we had the windows open cause it had been decent outside...but I think when I cleaned and busted butt that one day I got way too hot cause it was more humid out that day. I wonder if I got too "cocky" and pushed myself too much and got too hot mabey brought this on??

What was your MRI of brain, cervical spine,thoracic spine?

Well I usually have brain and full spinal, but my neuro just have my brain and stem done this time. He said if there was any changes they would show in the brain I guess...

Yep that sounds like where a new lesion is, if it is a new lesion.. So it was clear on the 11th. That's really close to the 30 days, close enough to 30 days. Have you had these symptoms before? That work you did last week really could have worsened some existing tissue damage....so its possible it will clear up within 48 hours. I don't know that there is anything to do but wait and see. Don't get too hot, stressed and rest. And hopefully it will clear up. For your question about how to deal with the panic...I don't know. I instincitively thought drink or take a sominex & sleep through the 48 hours, then I read you use Klonopin, so I don't think those two ideas are any good.

Post here a lot to pass time, folks here understand. Stay away from caffine. This too shall pass and you will come out of it ok. You have already done the proactive action to have your neuro call tomorrow.

I think chocolate or ice cream helps somewhat. But don't make yourself vomit, if you use eating to calm yourself.
