I wrote about this topic around a year ago, but had another experience much more severe recently.
Is or Could this be MS related?
I startle very, very easily sometimes. Riding in our van around eight days ago, I found myself jumping at every little small shift in the van as we drove down the interstate. If the shift of the van was more than just a little, I not only jumped, but also screamed. This entire 180 mile trip was one of complete terror for me. I almost started crying because I was so terrified. I do not understand this. The easily startled thing comes and goes, but this last episode kind of freaked me out. The higher the speed limit and the greater the amt. of traffic, the more terrified I became and the more easily startled. I don't understand this. I felt lke every single nerve in my body was on 'red alert'.
Oh, drat. I'm getting plugged up again! My life never lacks for some ailment of some sort.

Those last two sentences were written because I thought that I was writing in my journal. As soon as I posted, I realized it was a post. Cognitive function impairing memory again. This is a very frustrating disease!

Sounds like a bad anxiety problem which may or not be related to extra stress from ms esp if depressed. I would see your dr about it as it sounds like you need something to take to calm you down when these things happen. If you can try deep breathing & relaxation of whatever works for you daily & it may bring stress level down.

I also startle very easily - always thought of it as a part of anxiety (which I realized I had before I knew about the MS) - just call me Jumpy : )

Before I was dx my hubby like to scare me. I told him I can't handle you doing that anymore. I still get scared by him doing normal stuff like walking in the front door. I tell him what makes me nervous and we work on alternatives like now he calls me first ;)

Lord have mercy, I thought it was just me! Everytime I go somewhere, my husband has to drive and I close my eyes from the time I leave until my destination. Then it eyes closed for the entire trip home. It is driving me crazy. The traffic and cars going fast....I just freak!
