So I had a follow up with my primary doc Monday and she is livid with my neuro. I'm having a very bad flare to the point in having trouble lifting my legs.and I can't bend or move. She looked at my medical history with him, and said he's basically trying to label me as a head case.ive gotten more help.from my primary than my neuro. She took me off flexeril and put me on skelaxton for pain control.she says it affects the spine and not the brain like flexeril. Any experiences with this particular med?
also she has told me to reaserch neuros and pick the one I feel most comfortable with and she will refer me. I'm looming I to docs at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Any one with personal experiences? I know I can contact the ms society, but I'm looking for personal experiences.

First ((hugs)) having ANY MD make you feel like you are not believed is horrible! WHY?? Why would ANYONE walk into a nuero office and ask for ANY of the tools they use?? It would be faster, more fun, and better drugs to go to a pysch and ask for their drugs. So let me give you this advice.

NEVER EVER EVER let an MD spread their ignorance on you. MS is like a fingerprint. and not everyone has the same kind, same sx, same line up of difficulty and the same reaction to the same meds as the last guy. Keep good records so that you become portable. Be honest with your MD. Trust me, your last one will have left a note in your file and not talking about it wont make it go away. Tell the new guy that you felt dismissed or not heard in the last office and you are hoping for a different relationship from this new office. If you can find an MS center. Vanderbilt should have one. Even if you only use it once to get established and use a local neuro for all your easy needs.

It sounds like your regular MD agrees with you. Call the MS society and ask for a referral for the clinics or approved MDs in your area. Call your insurance company and ask who they approve of. Go to a local MS support group meeting and ask who they like. I found that there is a local neuro here that most hated! he was rude, dismissive and aggressive. His partner however is amazing! I didnt know he had a partner.

Thanks for the advice. I found a Neuro at vandy I want to give a go, my mother in law recommended her. I'm getting the referal today and this week I'm getting a copy from my soon to be ex Neuro. I'm still having this stupid flare and I finally had to break down and get a cane. I named him Cletus. Between that, my tens unit and a lot of prayers from my family I'm functioning. I'm trying to laugh instead of cry right now. Both hurt, but laughing is better
