Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group

I DO realize that everybody experiences MS differently and everybody copes differently so I am not trying to step on any toes but I thought I would share this. If I only touch one person, that's ok. I just felt I should share.....
I am 22 and was just diagnosed in February. Along with the MS, I have dealt with a tumor on my thyroid, kidney failure and almost losing my son when I was pregnant. Before the health issues, I grew up in a horribly abusive home and was adopted when I was 12. I got very VERY close to my adoptive parents and at 14, my adoptive father died of brain cancer. Yesterday was the 8 year anniversary of his passing.
I did deal with depression as a teenager for obvious reasons, but what I learned through all of it, is NONE OF IT was my fault. I had no control over anything that had happened to me. There was no way I could have changed it and asking "why" never is a good question because it never has an answer.
I have been told that I am a very strong person but I do have my days where I just want to cry. I give myself moments to cry about everything but otherwise I want to live my life the best I can. I try to enjoy every minute of every day because there really is no telling how long we have. So why spend it being upset over things we can't control. None of us chose to have this disease, but we can choose how we cope. I choose to treat it and hope it works and be happy in the meantime.
I also decided to volunteer at a local shelter because it is rewarding work. I wanted to make a difference in someone life and it just feels good. :-) I really hope somebody takes something away from this. There WILL come a day when research comes through for us. We just have to be patient! :-)

It is very inspiring and I'm happy to know that it brings you great feelings to help others. It is one of the kindest things one can do.

Walking forward and dropping all excess luggage. Hope many find the truth behind your words and live by them.
I always tell people that blame their parents, life, economics while growing, etc. Is till 18 ,you can blame them, after that ,is your choice to stay stuck or make the right choices. Usually I get them to think about this. Some want to stay in the past, ,,their choice.
