Oct 20 final divorce degree Yeah.

Also on Oct 20 received my first disability payment double yeah's.

So the third item I have or need to resolve is medical insurance
been lucky treatment from free clinic and charity care from hospital
I have been able to get excellent medical care for just about no cost.but I need to get real coverage.
From everything i have read and found out I am or can't get medicaid until I have been disabled for 2 years.

Question is does anyone know anyway to get coverage before that?

i think maybe i shouldnt say cause im not sure-- but im on medicare that took 2 years! medicade you should qualify for that or at least some assistence-crasy isnt it -it takes 2 years to get ins. whats a person suppose to do.. medicad goes back three months to on dr bills -check it out hope i heled some.

Sorry Charlie I can't offer any advice about your coverage, but I can say CONGRATULATIONS on the divorce!

Do you have a disability attorney? Sometimes that is the best way to deal with those issues.

I won't say congrats on the divorce as I don't know if it was a good thing or not. I'm going to be breaking the news to my H, probably this week that we will be doing the same thing, and it is a good thing...for me at least.

Not sure what you read about 2 years----but I was awarded disability 5 months after I applied & I know there are some that were awarded sooner than that after they applied.

SS assings multiple dates to your ap[plicatiom. Date of application & date of disability. I had no idea I had MS until I was diagnosed, in hindsight I had symptoms for 19 year before then. So my date of disability was the date I was diagnosed which was when my MS was visible enough for a diagnosis & did disable me, then my application date was 2 weeks later. It was a total of 6 months before I collected my first disability check after my date of disability as is required by US law.

Some got a SS check before 6 months from the date they applied, because their date of disability was was determined to be earlier than when thy applied. Their date of disability was 6 months before they recieved their firast check, as is required by US law. Then they had to wait 2 years before Medicare kicked it----your rignt that Medicaide happens immediately with the first disability check.--no 2 year wait.

I don't know enough about Medicaid to know about a 2 year wait--but it doesn't sound right to me. Your in the US? Its not Canada disability?

Apply for SSI disability & see how long it takes to Medicaide--I'm uncertain that not applying because you think 2 years is required might not be that good of a plan. And even if it is 2 years, it gets to be a longer 2 years the longer yopu delay starting.

Sorry about no ideas before medicaide, I just went the 2 years before medicare with minimal medical care.
