Congratulations. You must have had all your ducks in a row to accomplish this in 2 months! This is wonderful news. Hopefully the stress of this all will disappear now, and you can relax without symptoms!

I think it went smooth cause of what my doctors said. Ss said it was easy to process.

I've been going thru this crap for a while I've been on short term disability going on 6mths and its running out this month..on top of that in order to switch to long term disability they want me to apply for ssi..oddly enough I have all my credits to apply for ssdi and I'm only 27 I worked my ass off before I got sick. On top of that thru this process I will have no income for months...I'm extremely stressed out n frustrated n I feel like I've been backed into a corner..I'm very happy u got it! Its a cut throat system n we deserve it!

today I got my first bit of money since Aprril. I was scared hate being broke. I was scared I would get turned down first time. The ss office the reason they are turned down is cause they really can work. Thank god my doctors filled out all my forms well.

congrats to all. i did not get disability, because i kept thinkg i would get better and go back to work....so i waited too long, they said, and even though i had lots of wierd doc visits, they would not say it was cause of MS, i go to VA. so now i live on 674/month, have a roomie that expects me to clean up after her, and i voluntarily do laundry and dishes, sorry, starting to rant.
what i am saying is apply NOW, don't wait. i would like to see if i can re-apply, i miss being able to buy kleenex...so i can snivel into it! grinning, leslie joan from idaho

When you are deemed disabled age 31 and younger, they take your age which is 27? And subtract 22. Another way to look at it would be, they start counting quarters after 22. So in your case, you would have 5 years to count quarters, but you only need to work half of those 5 years earning enough to get the maximum 4 quarters. You would need to make roughly 4200 to get the full 4 quarters for 2 years and 2100 for the 3rd year. This would get you the necessary 10 quarters. I was disabled at age 30, I would need to work atleast 4 years earning 3700 a year to get 16 credits. I haven't looked at it for awhile but it seems 31 and under uses this system. Age 32 and up you are required to work half of the last 10 years to get the 20 credits required.

Wow head spin I though finite math was hard. I just look at what the government sends each year it says if retired you get xxxx or disabled xxxx. I know when applied for dssi I need to work 10 years so I been working since 14 and now 33 I was covered. Its less way less than what I made when working but Isold my car cause I cant drive or walk so I saved alot of money there. Plus with me home we dont need a sitter for our boys. My life has been hard out the womb. My mom was always sick. I was home less at 8. My mom killed her self when I was 21. I was let go from my job 2 years ago cause I couldnt keep up with work. I just keep head up push forward what can you really do?a

what type forms did your doctor(s) have to fill out? just curious. thought i had everything in a row when i applied last year, but maybe not. i have an atty now and am waiting on court date which will be a teleconference so i am told.
