I guess it will be a trial run like starfish said.I guess try to use any skills youve learned.I try to only think about the next 5 minutes when I'm overwhelmed.then the next 5 minutes.Over and over til the day is done.Maybe think happy thoughts,i know thats hard!! Like 'it might be fun" or "I might make a friend" or "the money will be nice".
Then its one day at a time.If you do switch, hopefully it will be to a part that is ready for the challange.hugs!
i think having alters might actually be a benefit at work, different aspects will be able to perform various tasks that other parts find distasteful or difficult - remember alters are NOT different people but parts of a whole that are split off. it's not like a committee is going to appear - only one body is going so no one else is going to be aware unless you tell them. others might just think you're having an off moment or day. most people are too involved in themselves to pay much attention to someone else.
if you screw up admit it, apologize and do your best to correct it. everyone makes mistakes. i made a kind of big one at work and that's what i did and i'm still at the same job almost 6 years later. i started per diem and after two years i changed to full time and i am going to school part time. i'm considering nursing school now since my short term memory has improved.
being forced back to work is scary - it is what happened to me also. well, not back to work. i chose that, but back to work full time. it was the best thing that happened to me. i feel better about myself because it has proved that i can do it. i'm still subject to dissociative episodes, all you need to do is see how much i pay in overdrafts. it's awful. i forget what i paid and pay things twice. big things like the car. once i paid the mortgage twice. that wasn't fun. i forget which account i paid something from as well, i need 2 checking accounts as i handle my sibling's bills too. i make a mess often but have yet to be evicted or had anything really terrible happen, they lights and phones have remained on, so i consider that ok. i've never been written up at work because i've done something dumb due to dissociation either.
so, take a deep breath and go for it. i'd be willing to bet you'll be a better employee than most because you'll be aware and try harder =)
