Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...

Living with 10 different personalities and their issues day after day is exhusting! I can't remember the last time I had a thought that did not have to processed through 10 different people. I can feel my alters getting pissed off with me because I am wishing I had one thought my own! I'm going to bed. Good night everyone. I hope everyone has a peaceful sleep...I love you my friends. Thanks for being here with me. I pray for your healing! Good night God Bless!

Yeah I can hear you loud and clear on the tiredness issue. It gets very tiring when all thoughts have to be processed by several different personalities before a decision can be made. I have 12 personalities myself. When a thought comes and it is not processed by each of the personalities they get frustrated by being left out of the conversation and can act out for being left out and then we have more problems to deal with. I guess what has helped me somewhat is setting up a framework where each age group gets a say in the issues rather than each individual. I have myself at the top of te hierarchy and my protector just below me. From there each of the age groups has a member representing them., This member can change various times throughout the year depending on how well the member is coping and whether they have earnt the respect from the whole group they are representing. Like I said I know where youre coming from so remember to take time for yourself away from all the hassles of havin to cope with 10 personalities and remember even though they are all there you are still you and YOU are important as an individual.

Hi, I'm new(again) evidently i cam e here in 2009 and am here again. I am so lonely, basically because I checked out of life except for work in 2008. I am in therapy again and now I'm really lonely. I have always been a people person up until my husband died in 2002. then in 2007 I got married and everything started unraveling. this is when I learned I may be DID? I'm still not even sure but I know it's true because it happenned with my theerapist, the only thing that throws me is that I was co-conscious of it. I find that even tho I enjoy work it totally exhausts me to be in that kind of focus for 8 hours, very stressful. It's like holding everything together for that long is soso so tiring.

It is a strange comfort that we can relate. Hang onto your job Ickiv because once you go on disability It's hard to go back. When I no longer could stay focused at my job I started cutting in the bathroom. Then the flash backs would bombard my head and I would start crying. There was no way I could stay at work because I could no longer stop switching. That was 2 years ago. I have been in and out of Hospitals and tried all kinds of meds, therapy two to 3 times a week. My alters have worked hard on their abuse issues. They are slowly healing. But I do not know if I will ever be able to hold down a job. My long term disability ends soon. I do not know what I'm going to do. I wish there was a special treatment center just for us to live at. I pray that God would heal us all and help us to manage life again!

I totally understand, it's like that money is a lifeline to healing. I was on unemployment for a while, and it gave me time to stop for a while. My daughter found she was able to return to work after a complete breakdown, I felt she took too much on, she is in a HR position, but she is doing well now for 2 years But, if you do have to go to work again, I would keep things a simple as possible. I kept feeling like " can't we just stop the world for a little while? I need a break". But unfortunately we won't know if we are getting better if we don't get back in there and hold a job, etc. ! At first I was triggerred so bad, but my counselor advised me to try to hang on for 2 months and now 5 mos into it, I am doing okay at work. I am married so I do feel guilty a lot that I am just too drained after work to do anything else. But I have a very understanding husband, so that helps.

Processing through the group can be a very long and tiring process, but I'll bet you end up making some good decisions because of it. It will improve :)
