Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. Them getting absorbed into me sounds...ewww
I want to give them the love and respect they deserve, not EAT them...
I was banned when I read this so I could not respond, but I laughed and laughed out loud. I tell you I havent had such a good laugh in a long time. Thank you.
Id like to share a metaphor about my experience integrating. Its like with an alter, a person has called in on your cell phone. Theres this troubled and horrified little person rocking your world, telling you things that are new but feel real and like you always knew it was true. You go though all the DID stuff because this little person is on your cell phone communicating with you.
Integration is like the little one opens the bedroom door and crawls into bed with you. A phone is one step removed. Bed is so immediate and real and so intimate to this world and reality. To me thats the difference in experience.
The little girl becomes a part of me, but still herself. Like the bed is the single personality and we are both still parts. But Im a bigger and stronger part because Im the conscious adult with far more ability to cope. The little one is not perfectly healed just because of integration. She is still who she is. But I have become able to completely accept that she is a very real part of me.
Another comparison I can make is that DID is like being on DS. You guys seem so real and able to affect me deeply, but still one step away from reality. Integration is when your little ones are room mates in your house.
No one gets eaten. (still smiling)
And congratulations on your healing Jessica!
@ GS...that sounds a bit nicer...
