The tragic fact is that 1 in 3 girls and 1 and 7 boys will be abused in their lifetime. This stands to reason we know people and I think the reason they come out of the woodwork, is that they know it to be true in us somehow. I am a highly sensitive person and sense that anyway.

I think those statistics are a major underestimation.Especially if you factor in silencing and dissociative amnesia.

most of the women I know have been abused either as children or as adults. At least half of them were sexually abused. I'd say it's easily around 75 percent.

Someone at my job had a freakout-a panic attack...Just talking to her helped her.
And...well...that sort of stuff just ended up being talked about, among other things.
I think people sense it's ok to talk to people like us, and this stuff just comes flying out.
...Which is appropriate, as it's being held in under pressure.

Everyone I know has been abused and (no one will like this part) everyone I know has abused someone in one way or another. Have you ever called someone a mean name? Have any of your alters ever lost there temper at any stage of life and chuked somthing at someone? Not to say were all the rat basterd abusers were here becouse of. Just saying its that comman. The naborhood Ombre grew up in was completly LDS (sorry if this afends anyone) The kind of people many of the parents were in secret just blows me away its sickning. One of Ombres friends dads is a dog killer and who knows what else, another friends adoptive dad @@@trigger@@@ sexually tortured her and her sister and a nabor girl. Another nabor girl was beaten and malested by her mother and two fathers all living in the same house same naborhood. The boy around the corner was beaten and wached his mom get beaten and raped nearly to death. The father across the street from them raped his sister inlaws. The mother two houses up beat up her retarded daughter then took legal custody of her as an adult becouse of her retadation. As an adult the girl tried to get help from the local shelter but my mom who was cordinater recieved the call and told her she was lying and needed to go back home. But hey Ombre was always told she lived in a say it with me "Good Mormon Naborhood"! Yes abuse is comman especially around here and somthing needs to be doen about it. Put me on your freaking list.

I also just thought of more nabors the grandmother down the street often took her randkids becouse there dad severly abused and silenced/icolated them. One of them I know definitly had a disociative strength. Her story is proably the sadest of all. There was one jahovas witness girl who's family and church isolated her to a point I would call it abuse. She didnt know how to cope in the world around her becouse of it.

I was explaining to this neighbor of mine the tribulations I have been going through with my local judicial system and prosecuting these abusers.I told her the reason I am looking to sell this van is because when I went to report being assaulted this sheriffs department involuntarily committed me for no just cause.I was held for nine days in this hospital against mine and my husbands will. This caused my business that me and my husband own to be destroyed. This neighbor told me "you see that is why we don't come out and say what has happened to us.The system is even fighting against us". I believe the system is against people because it is full of either victims in denial about their abuse thus they deny your abuse when you come out and report it or abusers who seek positions within the system to get away with abusing. The system itself mirrors an abusive family dynamic.What do you think is the smartest jobs for an abuser to get?A detective,a therapist,a social worker, a lawyer, a judge. Now I am not saying that all people in these positions are abusers but I would be willing to say that a good deal of them are and the ones that aren't abusers are most likely abuse victims in denial.I think that there should be laws past that if a person is seeking one of the above named positions they have to go through recovery therapy before they are even given a chance to hold such a position. As for myself and my dealings with the system I am done.I am going to all of my local news stations and exposing all of them for how incompetent they truly are. I can't wait to watch the roaches scatter when the light has been turned on them.

almost everynoe i know. my normal friends whose lives i envied were emotionally abused, latch key kids who never got to be with their parents. and that sucks cuz they became really depressed and self absorbed. but those are the most normal people i know. out of my abused friends, omg like my best friend had incest in her family and my aunt was raped by her father and is now bi polar. my uncle has been doing coke for so long now but i don't know why...but i think it has to do with a verbally abusive mother. and lots of people tell me their problems randomly on campus. im like, am i wearing a t shirt that says "therapist?" lol but everyone always tells me thier problems. so that's why im majoring in soc cuz i'm already a pro. hehe

abuse is so prevelent that its become the norm, i'd say. sucks so bad cuz kid's are the future and no one invests in us. like normal people only care about themselves and their immediate loved ones. Kelly but don't i have value the way i am. i don't want to change or pretend to be like everyone else, it's exhausting.

Your correct in saying the stats are WAY off and a GROSS understatement due to how many people don't report, and not to mention adding men to that factor too. Sad that whole communities hide behind a shield of protection meanwhile the children are destroyed and F#$%^& systematically.

In 50 years of living I have only had one woman tell me she had never been abused, Of course I didn't believe her because her fear of men was just way too strong. As a child, I never even thought that anyone's life was different from mine, I just assumed everyone was abused the same.

My mom's GP told her 50% of the women he sees have been sexually abused. And he didn't even ask my mom who had been as a kid too.
My old psychiatrist Michael said the stats are WAY higher than what's officially recognised. He said the average paedophile abuses 76 children.
I get all surprised when I learn anyone I know WASN'T abused. It's like huh?! You're a rarity!! My psychologist Peter was never abused. I find it almost unbelieveable. How can someone get through childhood with NO ABUSE?? Mind you I will be homicidal towards anyone who goes near my child in any abusive way.
Wheezie, I'm horrified at how awfully you'vebeen treated by the system- so many facets of it. It's just horrifying. You are SUCH a kind, wise, understanding, caring, level-headed person. I'm so sad you got so freaking hurt. You never deservedto get hurt at all. I'd LIVE to hear how any media reporting goes by anyone about their abuse or about the system's failings and cover-ups. I've always had the media as something up my sleeve for one day. The LEAST I WILL do is write and publish a book about my lives.
I'm cheering on every single survivor who doesn't abuse others and who takes on the fuckers and tells their stories. We have SO much power just with our voices now. Our memories and our voices.

Catstiptoes, we believe my husband is also one of those unabused rarities. Although he has witnessed physical and emotional abuse in his family and has been spanked here and there it didn't get to the point to where he dissociated it. You put it perfectly. He says he has felt like the odd man out his entire life.He has lived 36 years of his life wondering why people do what they do and not being able to connect to anyone(including myself,his child and his own family) on a deeper level. As I am sure you know even though we who have been abused long for love and deep connections to others most of the time we are unable to do so until we get further into recovery.He said that broke his heart many times and lead to depression in him but when we discovered my MPD along with learning the psychology of abuse survivors it was a huge light bulb moment for him. He finally discovered why his mother always pushed away from him when she gave him a hug or his father never told him he loved him his whole life. Also the stark differences between him and his two brothers who both have been abused. Both of them are mired in debt but make a lot of money with sucessful jobs while we have no debt and own everything(our house,the land it's on,our vehicles and our business(that is before it was destroyed by the systems incompetence) paid in full. It also seems that childhood abuse sets one up to be subjugated to the system in that way as well. His brothers seem to want to soothe their inner pain with consumerism thus leading to more debt and more stress on their already stressed minds and hearts.It's a never ending cycle that leaves them more and more subjugated.

Thank you for your kind words.It is a fight that we(my husband and I) are not going to stop fighting until justice is served and we will use every tool at our disposal in order to get the job done.

These cases that I am pursuing right now are not related to RA but in the future what I would like to do is amass as many survivors of RA as possible and seek justice against the organizations that perpetuate it as well.They can deny and call one person crazy who comes out saying what they have done but if there are hundreds/thousands of people saying the same thing then what are they going to do?Say we are all crazy?Would you be interested in joining such a fight Catstiptoes?
