Two days ago I looked in the mirror and thought I saw a cut on my neck.I touched it and it was dry. A second later I looked back in the mirror the cut was gone but then I had two drops of blood on my shirt.I showed my husband the shirt and he was amazed by this. I have had many somatic symptoms due to DID but bleeding is a new one for me.I know I have been assaulted with a knife to my throat but this alter hasn't revealed anything else to me yet.I know that there is a medical condition called hematidrosis that causes bleeding through your pores in times of intense emotional or physical stress. I wonder if this could be the underlying cause for what happened to me two days ago.Has anyone else experienced bleeding like this?
I have heard of this kind of thing, from at least two therapists...it's called an "abbreaction"...a flashback manifested physically. I have had a severely itchy rash on my forearms suddenly appear and then a few seconds later, disappear again....(I happened to be reading a book that mentioned this phenomenon a short while later in the chapter)
I've also heard from my nursing professor, (who I respected and admired...she is an awesome person) when I asked her a very similar question to yours, that it is an alter who switches and does the injury, and that's why it seems spontaneous. However, that does not address the sudden disappearance again.
