Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. sorry it's hard for bystanders to really understand imho.
they can read a lot of stuff about symptoms and how to handle things though.
Lex whom I care for has several books, films & print outs for D.I.D.
Those that were willing to believe this condition exist & it's causes gained a little understanding from the information. Enough at least not to dismiss lots of her & alters behaviour as fake or attention seeking. It's also helped Lex see that her behaviour is normal for her at this point though not how she wants to be.
The dissociative identity source book by Deborah Bray Haddock its our reference manual.
Living with Your Selves by Sandra J Hocking and Company gave Lex a simple understanding of her self and a few sceptics reason to stop and think.
The First Person Plural web site proved useful in viewing others stories, works and style of young alters writings. (Also shown on this site) The way of writing can be hard to understand at first and cause alot of frustration for the younger alters trying to express themselves.
I how you find something soon to help yourself & those around you with background knowledge. I can't stress enough that the best way to learn its by spending lots of time with all yourselves. Accept and respect everybody that makes up your system. Your all individuals with feelings and needs. Trust and love is needed in bucket fulls to allow all of you to express yourselves without fear of judgement or reprisal.
It's proved time consuming, tiring, stressful, sad and often magical sharing time with the alters. Lex also loses alot of time in the process.
wishing you all the best.
