Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...

It sounds like you were dissociated when you and the therapist talked about it, and that's why you didn't feel it, and then later it hit you? You started a flashback when you were in therapy? it was like you were there, but watching a movie? and then it hit you later?
If you need to work through it and stuff is all going through you head, you can post here, either private journal, or here at the group.

In that last therapy session there was a part that was trying to change the subject and another part that wanted to know another part that knew I needed to face it in order to heal. Seeing my bedroom again when I was very young so vividly must have been very triggering.
Someone asked me what happened to my arm the other day and I told them the dog scratched me.
I'm also having physical symptoms. I'm having a lot of pain in my wrists and pressure on my chest. I need to write all this down in my journal so I can remember it when I do see my therapist again.
yes, writing in the journal helps.
Sometimes I can't consciously feel and emotion like fear or sadness, but I get the physical symptoms, like stomach ache, urge to get drunk, self-destructive, Like it's right there wanting to come out, and at the same time we are trying to keep it stuffed down.
Sometimes it helps to get busy doing something, grounding in the present. Sometimes I can channel it through music as well as journaling.
Can you find a compromise for the alter that wants to change the subject and is not yet ready to face it full on? and the one that wants to face it full on? Maybe figure that you have faced it enough for the moment? and remind yourself that you are not there any more. It's amemory of a bed, and not that you are there any more. Look at where you are now,, in the present. ok?

I hope that the pain you are going thru is the healing kind and not the triggering kind...let not the work you are doing go to waste. You may consider writing out any residual feelings you have or speak them into a tape recorder and consider sharing them with therapist when she returns.
To me you are not losing, you are incredibly brave and this is a winning opportunity...take my strength, keep moving forward. You are an inspiration...many of us stay stuck....you are breaking through (((Hugs)))
It's definately too hot to go outside. I am trying to stay present and work on my grounding exercises.
John, you are soooo coooool. Thanks for all your input to us that helps us to move forward. If you ever have need feel free to message me.
