It's so hard for down time between classes, work, practice,hw ah so much I just shut down and that's what I have done so I'm falling behind :(
sit in a chair with both feet on the floor and your hands in a comfortable position. Breathe in and feel the breath enter your nose. Feel it go into your lungs. Feel your diaphragm (stomach) rise and fall as you breathe. Feel the floor under your feet. Feel the fabric of the clothes you are wearing. Be aware of your posture, just feeling it, not trying to adjust it. Look at what is in front of you. Let yourself recognize where you are.
For the really hard days: take your hand with your pointer finger extended and pointing up. Hold your hand all the way to the right as far as you can see it without turning your head. Look at it there and watch your finger as you move your hand from the right to the left and back again. After a few times of this you may find your focus has improved.
There is also tapping. You can check that out on YouTube if you like. I can do it, but I can't describe it well.
