I love the term "dressing by committe", I think I'll borrow that one.
I must admit, that when my alters and I are "dressing by committee" it can be very stressful, because I will choose something to wear, get almost done putting it on, and then next thing I know, I'm wearing something else entirely. But there are times when I look in the mirror and just have to laugh. It helps that people see me as Quirky, like Phoeebe in the tv programme Friends, so no body questions what I'm earing or why I have my hair in pigtails lol
I'm glad you managed to find the humour in the situation xxx
My first day seeing my therapist, everyone was nervous, and wanted to look our best. I chose a nice, professional-looking, embroidered blouse. Tia chose blue jeans, and Pru went for the rainbow-striped headband.
Sometimes I feel like I fell out of a yard sale. The more nervousness I have about going somewhere, the more chaotic getting dressed can be.
It's refreshing to hear that others experience this, too, and yes, it can be funny when I realize what I'm wearing. Well, with all our stress, we deserve some humorous moments!
I had a therapist I went to church with too, once...although it was the other way around; she treated me very cordially in church, but in therapy, not so much....makes me wonder if she was....you-know-what!!
