Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...
I too was raised Christian...so, the whole thing scared my parents. But now we know what we're dealing with. We're just trying to figure out how best to deal with it.
So, on top of all that, my older sister introduced me to this Charismatic church when I was a teenager. Well, it certainly was more lively than the tiny country Presbyterian church near where I lived with my mother. Besides that, several of my friends from school went there, too. And that's where I learned about the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, (which, oddly enough, some Christians think it is demonicly influenced) and, of course, demon possession. Now, this church was in a tiny little logging town about 5 miles away from the tiny Presbyterian church near where I lived. All that to say, along with being a very naive country bumpkin and NO realistic understanding of psychology (which, we were taught at the Charasmatic church, were really just a bunch of brain-washing mind-controllers).....(try overcoming THAT obstacle to get mental help!!)
Talk about needing to invert my point of view!!!! Good grief!!!
Well, as I understood then, as a teenager from a Charasmatic church, when I first heard of MPD which was on an Oprah show, I believe....demonic possession seemed to me, to be obviously the "real" cause of it. But that's because that's all I'd been taught, all I knew, and had NO idea what psychology was really like. But I believed that what I had been in told in church was the truth and they knew the truth, so what else was there to need to know?
Well, as it has turned out to be.....that would be.....THE TRUTH!!! lol!!
