I don't really have much advice, sorry, but wanted to let you know that I care
xx
I think it's understandable that not all your littles will like your spouse. But divorce is not about liking your spouse or not. Give it time till you feel better.
I told my therapist that "the kids" basically thought she was saying they are make-believe, and were mad. Wanted me to go talk to someone else.
She apologized-said she never meant to imply they were not real or not important.
They were very impressed with a grownup...actually apologizing to them! This was a first.
...I think, last weekend, I have identified the problem. She has never felt sexual desire for any person, EVER.(I used the word lust, but clarified).
Now we have epic communication problems, so I am waiting until we get to the couples' counselor again to try and bring this up, again, and double-check, and triple check...
I believe she's a lifelong asexual and not aware of it.
i'm glad you are working things out with your therapist.
I'M the terminally frustrated one...
My WIFE is asexual. I'm not.
This problem is scrambling my brains.
....I assume my therapist to have sexual relations with her spouse, but I really don't need to know, you know?
I am not telling you to stop seeing your therapist. I can't imagine how hard it must be to be in the position to make that decision. The trick here is figuring out what's best for you. If working with someone who denies your experience is what is best for you, then you stay with her. If leaving, to find someone who acknowledges your situation is best, then that's what you do.
I know I've just stated that in a very simple way, but it isn't simple. I know that. Good luck.
They just LOVED this, a grownup apologizing to them...
Basically, my therapist is using family-systems therapy at this point when it seems warranted.
She calls what I have ego-state disorder; I think I am a VERY mild case of DID. Apparently family-systems is helpful stuff either way, and it just seems natural to relate to the kids as, well, kids.
As to whether she is right or not?
Strictly speaking, the kids don't really come out on their own except for very rare occasions. Our emotions run into each other...
I feel theirs during good times, in time of stress they absorb the bad feelings and take them away. So, sort of shock absorbers.
I believe Shawn has taken over a total of 3 times...usually it's myself and one or more others, operating in tandem...Fisher's good at being social and outgoing. Shawn is on the lookout for threats, always.
Joy operates behind me when she feels like it, too...and I am suddenly exploding in LOVE for everyone and everything...which is ...utterly amazing. Also, she tends to want cookies.
