Is it possible to have an alter that dreams for you? I very seldom dream or at least remember dreaming. Last night was the trird time I remember dreaming this year, which is more than most years, In the dream I was lying on a streacher sobbing uncontrolably and looking at what appeared to be other streachers all empty. The streachers seamed to be military in that they were olive drab. I was never in the military because I didn't pass the physical. I think what triggered it was reading what caused DID on that link last night which confronted more of my denial. The link was interesting, I'm not criticising it, I just think reading it triggered something that I feel really sad about. Usually when I dream it's something terrfying.
And I agree that researching DID is very hard on the system. That's why people pay therapists tons of money to have someone else do it for them. It's much easier that way, but eventually we all have to confront the realities that make us switch and shut down...Mari

Stretchers hold injured people... in other words, they hold trauma, right? To me, it sounds like your dream is showing you dealing with a traumatic memory (lying sobbing on a stretcher) and seeing that there are many more unknown memories waiting (the empty stretchers). They may be showing you that there's more to come and trying to see if you're ready to handle more. By the sobbing, I'd say you may not be ready for more yet, so they may just keep on with what you've already learned without bringing new stuff to light for a while.
Listen to your dreams as much as you can, and try to respond to your alts' messages after you wake up when you can. It will help bridge the way to better communication while you're awake. :-)

I've also had dreams where it was very apparent that an alter was out in my sleep based on the context of the dream, as well as appearance of our body.
Wistala - That is very interesting. I know there is one trauma memory that I do not have the full memory of yet. I've had bits and pieces of it in flashbacks and if it is what I think it is, it could put me in major depression.
Hope213 - You mentioned musical instruments. This is not one of my dreams, but reality. Every instrument I have, I have 2 of. I have 2 accordions, 2 keyboards, 2 guitars, 2 auto harps and 2 amplifiers.
About two weeks ago, I had a dream of Gary being unfaithful three nights in a row, then this past week, I've had very erotic dreams (very unusual for me) but today was a very different kind of erotic dream - it was like a lucid dream only some "part" was changing it - it wasn't me - to suit what they wanted.
I don't know how to explain it and I am so glad this site is anonymous. I'd be mortified to share something like this with anyone else.
I guess, my experience this past week, in response to this thread, has been that yes, alters dream and even can intrude on dreams. That's absolutely what I experienced today. It was very hard to shake.
