Multiple Personalities Support Group
Dissociative identity disorder is a diagnosis described as the existence in an individual of two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior, and there is also some associated memory loss,...
The only consistent thing ive been able to do is be a mom.I think i've done a good job so far considering the challanges of dissociating.Recently the way I dissociate is evolving once again.it has changed its shape over the years.Maybe its old age or menopause, but after disscciating i'm experiencing what I acll."baby amnesia".I come to not a new alter, but myself with parts of my personality missing.Like not having any idea what I like or how to make decisions. Its almost worse than switching personalities.that combined with depersonalization.what a treat not!
I'd really like to find a hobby i'd like.work doesnt seem realistic for me being so socially lacking....
maybe a hobby? somethig with lower stress might be better to help u with identity than work..I'm thinking i'd like to try a new musical instrument....
Every job I ever had, a whole lot of them- I lost count, I either quit, got fired, or both.
I like working. I like routine, knowledge, getting better, money.
I worked from when I was 12. I always liked it.
I cant bare triggers and that's where it usually goes wrong. Triggers, and the energy department.
Some experiences I had while working were
-I turned into a child, was begging a coworker to help me solve an issue I dont recall.
-I turned into critical alters. Nobody can keep up with their tempo, it creates rivalry between coworkers. Not much of a social butterfly so that contributes to not being accepted. Not to mention staring at people like I want them dead without noticing it.
-alters who fall in love./alters who want the world to end and hate all people.
-I was repeatedly so inconsistent, I was literally ashamed of the difference between an amount on a good day and an amount on a bad day. My boss was very puzzled and thought I used uppers.
-I become so depressed, anxious and physically sick (every second day) and slow that I cant even get up. I cannot at all bike 10 miles to work (really hard) and stand for 8 hours., come home make dinner clean the house etc.. omg.. can barely even do one of those a day.
-I become so stupid that I cant even understand language. I cant hear them and/or cant understand what they want from me. I also keep forgetting what they want from me.
Ever since I know what I do, regarding alters etc, I really dont want to go back to work because I know I will keep doing it. I dont want to be the weirdo and I dont want to be a loner. I cant be ourself either and I dont want to be fake. Not to mention I still get depressed and slow and forget everything, that includes the way I act towards people or what I feel about them, which makes for lotsof inconsistency..
Also we alters cant agree to what we want. We want lotso things but nothing for real, there's nothing that we want more out of those things. Yeah sure Rita wants to be a psychologist more than anything. She isn't around all the time so that's not an option. We dont want to become a T lol.
Yeah I myself would say I dont have an identity too and I'm like characterless in my interactions with other people. No likes, no opinions, no moods,... but when alters come out/gain control...It's with some alters like a tenfold. Alters will come out. Especially the longer I work there.
The only thing that's different for me now is that I know what's wrong when I didn't before, so maybe I can control it somewhat better but I dont think I'm ready to go back to work yet. In fact I think I know I'm not. I am very glad that I do know now what's wrong because I might not have noticed it before but all those things and more, really did happen also without me noticing it.
I just really hope therapy is going to help me any day now so I can start my education finally.
IDK what the options are but I hope you find something to do. IDK if you have a therapist but maybe they can help you find something. Like maybe you could do a hobby or go in an outpatient program.. I did an outpatient program and it was kinda nice. People around you, therapists there for you, orientating on hobbies etc.. Some of the therapies are really hard though, maladjusted.
I hope you will feel better fast. Sorry bout my work rant lol.. It bothers me..Obviously..
my point is, i think that having a dissociative illness has been a great challenge in many areas of my life it is not the only one. i think we tend to forget that there can be other issues, some as in my life that had nothing to do with me personally, external forces, i.e. accidents that were totally beyond my control but due to prior vulnerabilities impacted me more than they might have the next person.
at this point in my life i've decided that while i'm not any of the dx's any provider decides i may have i am also not wholly responsible for every wrong turn my life has taken. i am responsible for the choices i've made but not necessarily for how they turned out.
