Hi, as far as i remember, i've never been on any drugs other than Gabapentin and anti fungal drugs. Weaning off immune supression drugs at mo', only 2 more months then finished.

For a few months after transplant you will need to take an antiviral to prevent shingles. Bisphosponates to put some strength back into your bones may be given, I believe the current protocol is to do the bisphosphonate infusions for up to 24 months and then stop so as not to develop static bones or put too much stress upon your kidneys.

Calcium and vitamin D are a good idea and so is a baby aspirin if your doctor concurs, then it's all determined by your blood work and how the paraprotein levels change over time.

Right now I take the calcium and d and go in for a monthly bisphosphonate infusion ( aredia).

Thanks guys for responding, I'm glad to see that a lot of people are not on chemo maint after the transplant. I'm not sure how many more rounds of chemo I will do, before requiring the transplant. Because I'm allergic to apples and oranges, those won't work for increasing my potassium. I'm probably a little low today as well. I was daily doses of potassium pills up until several weeks ago. I'm sure they'll renew my prescription when I go next week.

If you can tolerate Gatorade the G series powder the jocks use is 90 mg of potassium per serving and would be a good addition to your transplant picnic basket.

I dislike Gatorade, but at this point, I'm willing to try.

Hi there..I don't visit here very often but happen to stop by. I had my transplant (will be 4 yrs in Aug) and am doing great. I took promidrenate for 2 yrs and nothing else. I am on drugs for mm. I take my reg meds plus magn. I see to be low on that.

I'm not taking any for my mm. I'm taking a mega dose of magnesium because that is low. I took antibiotics for a short while after transplant and 2 yrs aof promidronate..thats its...

Kathy, some patients will have to take additional MM drugs such as Revmilid, Velcade, Thalidamide. I did not have to take any of those after my tandem stem cell transplants with high-dosage Melphalan. I have continued to take Dexamethazone (or Decadron) for a few months here and there to strengthen me. Blessings.

I've been so tired lately. I remember Bamb00 telling me about Chemo Nadir. I just wish I had more energy. I'm starting to
notice sharp pains in my legs. I'll be sure to mention this to the docs next week.
