Hello All,
I am new posting to this board,have been reading some of the posts to get a sense of what you're all experiencing. Someone may have some knowledge I'm trying to find, haven't been able to find much elsewhere and experience is the best teacher after all.
I do have an Mspike, met with a Hematologist/Onc and will return
Tuesday for test results. Her dx right now is MGUS.
Question-This was found as a part of a workup for autoimmune diseases and I am wanting to start immunosuppressants to try and get that under control. Using those can increase the risk of some cancers so I'm concerned the MGUS will turn into MM. I did ask the Dr. if that 1% a year increases but she did not want to answer specifically, or, based on what I've read, may not know as it seems there is a lot to the Undetermined Significance part of the acronym. I'm a 56 year old female if that enters into the calculation.
I really appreciate you all being and the board and offering support to others.

because I seem to be in your same situation. However, I am older
than you by 15 years. I had an M spike some ten years ago and
then they did a CAT scan I didn't go back to the oncologist
because the scan was clear and I was being treated for Lyme.

That has taken all my focus. Now. My blood work is still
abnormal and a new doctor is rechecking me. An oncologist.
My appointment is on Tuesday also. My diagnosis is
paraproteinemia. It appears similar to MGUS. I don't know
much about immunosuppressants. I can understand your
concern.
Maybe you can post here again after your appointment?

even the small risk that could exist is worth it to improve functioning.
I continue to see a hematologist/oncologist every 6 months for monitoring. Hope this helps.
