Hi, my Ken had kyphoplasty last year when he was first diagnosed. That was one of the initial signs of his MM. His fracture was on L5 and the kyphoplasty procedure was great, outpatient and a bit unpleasant for sleeping the first few days but after that was like nothing had ever happened to his back. Go for it and best of luck.

is that he procedure where they inject cement like stuff into the spaces of he fractures? we are seeing a specialist next week to see if he can do anything..my husband has 5 bulging discs.. 2 comprssion fractures.. ect

Yes, mrsdoc. They make 2 very small holes either side of the vertabre and inject a cement like substance in the fracture, in simple Lyman's terms. I don't know that it would be the answer for bulging disks.

Thanks for the update guys. I must admit that I was a little freaked out when I found out, even went thru a little depression and anger. I'm much better, than quite 100 but better. I meet with docs next week.

Hi Guys decided to wait on surgery. Found out it wouldnt help my shoulder pain. Its crazy how this evil works. Youre in remission but not really and you still have issues.

Kparker.. I have been saying the same thing.. you get told your in remission but yet your not able to enjoy it due to all the other problems associated with it..

my husband had the kyphoplasty on Thursday and is pain free.. its amazing.. the only problem from it is his shoulder. the position they put him in caused his shoulder to hurt more..his shoulder is blown out, but.. he is pain free from all the back pain.. and he feels like hes ready to take on the world..

Well I was admitted again for pain and had the kyphoplasty on 7/9 on my lumbar area.
I don't see where everyone says this is immediate relief, I am in just as much pain now as I was before. I came home Thursday and have been in bed ever since, its still just as hard to get around as is was before, had a real bad dizzy spell today.
Could it be it may just take longer for me or what? I was hoping after reading how many people got relief from this surgery that I would be up and around with no problems. Any sugesstions? thanks, Nancy

I'm sorry. No, I have never heard of it.

I believe I now have a another fracture in my back. It's crazy, but the pain is no longer there. I go to Doc on Tuesday and will be sure to let them know and see what they say.
