Sorry didn't see this sooner, didn't know this board was here. I am also a mom of sibling sexual abuse that happened when they were both juveniles. It's hard to find an active board for it. I found out about a year ago. You are not alone! The issue is so much of this goes unreported and we all feel alone. I like you are in the same boat. Our son violated our daughter. We reported it. Our son at 15 plead guilty. At 19 our state civilly committed him and we have been fighting ever since to get him out. He served from the age of 15 to 31 behind razor wire in what our state considers a treatment program. He was a juvenile. He needed help and instead they did more harm than good. He was finally released last year. Our daughter was allowed no contact while he was in the adult system which drove a wedge between her and her brother. I never thought I would see the day that my kids would actually talk let alone be under the same roof for a family dinner. Time, counseling, much patience on our part, and learning to listed to what our daughter needed from us was what got us through. There was a time she didn't want to hear his name. As parents you so badly want your kids to have a relationship but what we learned that in this case that is up to her not us or him. We did as she asked. A few years ago we told her it's possible he may have to live with us. She is an adult and out of the house. Our counselor guided us because we felt like we would alienate her. At the end of the day he stated you did for her at the time what was best now you need to do for him now what is best she will get over it. She slammed the door in my face telling us we were the worst parents ever. Fast forward to now her and her brother have mended their relationship. They talk, they go play pool together, and for the first time I had both my kids under the same roof at Christmas for the first time in 17 years. Love both and be aware of the needs of each. For 17 years we kept our relationship from him separate from hers. We never spoke about him unless she asked. We tried counseling with her back in the day but she just refused to talk. I know coming from personal experience as my father molested me that each has to heal in their own time and in their own ways. Reach out anytime you need to talk. It is a very lonely journey but I think because people just don't want to talk about the big elephant in the room. It's a hard subject. I have actually done news interviews that made national news regarding my sons case.
