This community focuses on children (of any age) who no longer have a mother in their lives, whether as a result of death or extended separation. A mother plays a crucial role in both early childhood development as well as support throughout one's life. How is your life affected by the lack of this integral relationship?
Missing my mum really badly!!! She has been gone 16 years!! i was 6 when she died my sister was 3 and our brother was 16. i was stuck to mums hip out of the three kids. wherever she was i was right there too. i had more of a bond and relationship with mum. I always got called mums twin. it is like looking at her but I'm younger. All mums old friends that see me all call me mini reasa.... After mum passed my life changed for the worst!!! I had to live with the man i thought was my dad. He was very abusive towards only me. If someone else done something wrong i was the one that coped it. I was always covered in marks and cuts etc. Every time i asked him why he done this too me all he could say was YOU DESERVE IT YOU LOOK TOO MUCH LIKE YOUR MOTHER!!! I always had to lie to people at school or in the town we lived in telling them something different to what really happen... Everyone knew the truth but they were to scared to say or do anything because they knew what would happen too me... Behind closed doors or in front of people he didn't care!!!!! If my mum was still alive he wouldn't have been able to do that too me. I always had to watch him hurt her i had to hide my sister so she didn't see it... It was either dad or our brother hurting mum. They just didn't care!!!!! they are the reason to why i am the way i am today... If my brother didn't steal off mum or hurt her and she got to a doctor she would most likely be here today.... The hate i have for both dad and my brother is so strong i cant find words to tell you... I wish my mum was here with me and my kids and my sister because everything would be so different!!!!! People say it'll get easier but it isn't nor has it... Some people out there haven't got any sort of idea what is it like to not have your mum around and it honestly kills me everyday more and more ...... LOVE AND MISS YOU MUM!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you know that you are very strong woman for getting through that and a very caring one for protecting your sister.
If you haven't been told recently you are a very special person who deserves more love than you can imagine. I mean that you deserve and are worthy of more love than you can imagine. Never let your father, your brother or anyone else convince you otherwise.
I have a feeling that it is going to take a long time before it starts to get easier. Most people don't understand that you missed out on growing up with parents that loved you at least after you lost your mom. That you didn't have the support system that the rest of us did. The one that let us know not matter what happened or what we did that we are still valuable and lovable. I would encourage you to see a professional that can help you see what a wonderful person you are and help you deal with the pain and hatred you feel.
I'll be honest I am a little broken myself but if you need someone to talk to when you've forgotten how great of a person you truly are message me.
