Morbidly Obese 100 lbs overweight Community Group

For people who are CURRENTLY morbidly obese by definition. 100 + lbs overweight. If you want to talk about things without being judged or pressured by skinny people telling us how to lose weight, then you will be welcome here. Not meant to be an angry group, but a emotional support group. Please no harassing or bullying. Thank you.

I am currently looking for a job. I do excellent on the phone interviews but I'm absolutely terrified to do the inperson interviews because I know they will be shocked at how large I am. I gained 200 lbs since the last time I had to interview for a job and even though the positions are inside sales it still doesn't prevent people from being discriminatory.

Also, I'm afraid I won't fit in the chair at the interview and it also is extremely hot here, over 100 degrees, and I just don't think I can do it.

Anyone have any similar fears etc??

I went through this last week. I thought I wouldnt get past the interview because they thought I was too fat, but , uh, yeah, I got the job.

Update: I ended up not going to the interview. This isn't something I'm proud of but this food addiction/obesity is a prison to me. The good news is that I was so sad about being so locked away in this prison that I took action and went back to a meeting (Food Addicts www.foodaddicts.org) and have been abstinent from addictive eating for 7 days.

It is amazing how the body responds in just 7 days. Because I haven't eaten any flour or sugar or quantities of food I have lost 12 pounds already and all the swelling in my ankles has gone down.

Things are lookin up....and I hope to never have to skip out on an interview again.

I appreciate all of the responses because it showed me that I just have to walk through it no matter what...even though I didn't, it showed me I could.

Dont ever skip an interview because you think your too fat, if the chair is too small just tell them you need a different chair- ive had to do this! ive been to interviews where it was quite obvious they didnt want to hire me because im big. it sucks, and yes i was upset and cried over it. but at the end of the day who wants to work for someone like that? screw them! there are lots of people that love to hire a diverse group of people.

To be completely honest, I consider myself FAT, Fabulous And Thick. If the company doesn't want to hire you over looks, you didn't want to work there anyway! Their loss! Keep your head up, and never be afraid to be yourself, even if you are obese. We're all people, and we all have feelings, and they lost a great worker and an even better friend!
