Mono is a beast, I’m 5 weeks into mine and I was doing pretty good for a few weeks until it hit me again. You can have some weeks where you are great and think you are on the mend and the. It hits. Lots of rest, lots of fluids. It’ll get better but it takes time.

If your test results are positive, speak with your Dr about pain relief medications, my throat was hardly sore however I do not have tonsils but I had a fever for 10 days so I took ibuprofen. Hang in there! Try to not worry and stress, it’ll be ok.

Hey, don't stress too much. I'm a second year medical student, and was diagnosed with Strep and Mono this September, and I've been battling my way through it all semester long. It kicked my butt for a solid 2-3 weeks, where it caused me to have panic attacks and messed with my cognition. Like others have said, there are good weeks and bad weeks. I didn't take a leave of absence, but did essentially get 2 weeks off where I went back to my parents home and just rested. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, and stay hydrated from now on. Flush this bug out of your system. I also took some suppliments to bring the swelling down in my spleen in liver, dunno if they helped but it was recommended from my cousin (I took spirulina, and milk thistle). You will have good days and bad days, I just got over a few bad ones, but slowly you'll get better. Let your program know, they'll likely be Understanding, and just breathe. You'll get through this.
