Infectious mononucleosis (also known in North America as mono, the kissing disease or Pfeiffer's disease, and more commonly known as glandular fever in other English-speaking countries) is a disease seen most commonly in adolescents and young adults, characterized by fever, sore throat and fatigue. It is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) or the cytomegalovirus (CMV)....
I had SO much stress last year into this year (wedding for my daughter, and during the planning of only 4 months, my husband needed major back surgery..it was done on my bday, had a water leak from our shower that got on our bedroom carpet and we had to change the date of the wedding because the Army does what it wants when it wants. The kids literally went down the day of their wedding to get their license and had to see a judge to waive the 72 hour waiting period. My uncle died the day after the wedding. I flew up to Pittsburgh and met my parents. Came home and a few months later my mom rolled her car and thank God survived but broke her neck and I went up north to help with her surgery. The next spring we helped my daughter get ready to move to S Korea...she left and I started painting her room for my office then my mother in law took a turn for the worse with her illnesses and passed in April. We Went up north for the memorial, came back and I crashed...) well Hello, Reactivated Mono a few months later... Problem was I wasn't diagnosed til the beginning of Aug. pre menopuse was an issue so it was hard to tell if it was a hot flash or fever. Then Strep showed up but I think it was also late in being diagnosed as well because I never had the bad sore throat. I found out through all this that I have MVP and a Gene mutation of B vitamins. The fatigue had me at barely 2% energy, headache, dizzy, heart palps, long fevers, aches, in my jaw, head arms, legs...what a nightmare. During the mono we had a toilet leak in another bathroom that flooded both joining bedrooms...u can't make this up!! I was slowly coming out of it by the middle of Oct and was walking a little outside, riding my indoor bike but still had to stop by 2pm and rest the rest of the day. I Then I tried to change my hormones...bad move...migraines, hot flashes, low BP, high heart rate. Passed out one morning trying to get salt it was so low I woke up 3x on the floor and somehow was able to call 911. These episodes over the years did my adrenals in which had been running high all the time the entire last year right into my sickness so it's been about 2 years of stress now. Drs really did not help...I asked for most of my tests and found the mono. The symptoms came back but I'm testing Negative now for the mono That's where I am today. Two weeks into healing...again. I'm a retired military wife who was running circles all around life until that prolonged high stress and pre menopuse. I guess it's gonna take another 2 years to pull me up completely on my feet. What has helped is upping my Vitamin C intake, Beta Glucan, getting the natural B vitamins, talking with friends family, neighbors, church, doing puzzles, zinc, supporting my slower thyroid (not on meds for this) clean eating, with very low sugar and carbs, Epsom salts baths and extra magnesium, ashwaganda, l-glutamine, L-carnatine and a few more things I can't remember. Dry brushing before a bath to help detox, sitting in the sun daily etc. I'm already Gluten free. What more can I do? Sigh. Thanks for listening. It's good to vent with people who get it!
