Moms of Prisoners Community Group
A place of support for mothers with a child incarcerated. A place to share the pain and find comfort with those who are walking on the same hard path. A place where together we can be stronger and help our children cope with their time behind bars.
My son has been in jail since December 30, 2010. He was convicted of manslaughter. He is scheduled to be released 12/22/2024. Once you have been through the trial, conviction, going to visits, you would think you get used to it but you don't. It seems to read it's ugly head once in a while to fill you with the same old questions. Did we hire the right attorney? Was there something I could have done differently? You also hurt for the "victim's" family. There are so many questions I go over again and again. I know it doesn't help but, I can't seem to stop replaying a lot of it over and over in my head.
Right before Christmas I dreamt he was released from prison and I felt so happy in my dream. When I woke up the pain slowly came back and then it hit me doubly hard, when I realized that nothing has changed. It is torture.
It was very difficult getting through this holiday season.
The pain never goes away really, we just have to get through it one day at a time.
I’m so glad to find this group because we can understand each other’s pain. It’s hard for others to understand our pain and associated feelings.
