Hi, Im new here. I have a 20 year old son thats been in local county jail since 2-18-18. He turned 20 on 2-22-18. I never could have imagined my child turning 20 in jail. I imagined college, military, trade school but never jail.I've never been away from him longer than a week, & him being locked up over past almost month has given me a grief that's unexplainable. I came here for the since of community & support. I have no friends or close ones that I can confide in that can relate to this issue.

Hi there,
I just joined also. I pray God will give you strength to get you and your son through this. It's just heartbreaking. My son did 1.5 yrs in county and now 6 months in prison. He stopped calling once he got to prison and I just don't know why. I am hurting so bad tonight. May the Lord bless you.

Hi, I am so sorry for your circumstance & you not hearing from him. I know how that feels. My son was in "the hole " shortly after going to jail so he had no phone privileges for 10 days. It was really getting to me not hearing from him. I hope your son contacts you soon. Praying the Lord gives you both strength

I understand how you feel. My oldest son was just sentenced to 12 years. It's killing me inside. My kids and his 2 kids are my life they are all I have. I'm not close to my family so I have no support from anyone but my kids and I have to be the strong one to help keep his siblings and kids strong. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with and not sure I'm dealing with it the right way. There are days I just want to give up, but know I cant.

Hi Waskom, you are right. Some days are just harder than others. I don't think there's a perfect way to deal with this. Just take one day at a time, sometimes one moment at a time, focusing on your children & grand children. People don't understand our emotions they say things like "he's locked up, he fine, you know where he is ". No mother wants that for their child. We all want the best for our kids & pray that they have a change of heart & mind to make better decisions for themselves to have better outcomes. I think Moms are some of the strongest people alive. With trampled hearts, we still press on. Best wishes to you and your family

Rosy222 thank you. I'm trying my hardest. And sometimes I feel like that's not good enough. I pray every day that God keeps him safe. My son realized his mistake did not try to fight anything in court did not want to put anyone on the stand took with the DEA gave him and is begging for the help that he needs his eight year old daughter that he had custody of is having the hardest time with everything his sister is trying to adopt her to keep her with family which is good because we are all she knows he was telling us yesterday he wants to just give up but we are pushing him to stay strong for her and his son he feels lost because his wife won't talk to him and just wants to give up on everything I'm doing everything to keep her strong and him strong at the same time but then I have nobody to help keep me strong it's a tough road we have to go down as mothers.
