Moms of Prisoners Community Group
A place of support for mothers with a child incarcerated. A place to share the pain and find comfort with those who are walking on the same hard path. A place where together we can be stronger and help our children cope with their time behind bars.
Not many of this forum. Join Families of Sex Offenders - unfortunately there are tons of us over there.
To answer your question - YES....I have many feelings of jealousy. I think we all probably do in different degrees and ways.
You will find many people to talk to on Families of Sex Offenders.

Rather than jealousy, what I feel is a lot of trepidation about what my future will be like, especially after my sons get out. Being sex offenders, it will be extremely difficult for them to find a job or a place to live. I think often of where I should live, so I can provide a stable home for either of them, whichever one gets out sooner. It's really hard to do that, though, because they're in two different states...Iowa and Colorado.
Now that I'm retired, I was hoping to live in a place with milder winters than the Midwest, where I've lived most of my life. Both of those states have pretty nasty winters. So, I'm trying to hold onto my sanity, while researching the social climate and laws in various places I might want to live.
This is not what most mothers have to deal with at my age (mid 60s). Most mothers are looking forward to having their children help them through old age. With me, it's the other way around. I'm looking forward to supporting my sons through my old age.
My son was convicted of a violent, sex crime, and he is a registered sex offender. At 53 years old, I also will spend my last years supporting my son, and moving to a place where we can live in peace. I'm okay with that, but it is a lonely road to walk.
I will join the Families of Sex Offenders. Sometimes I really need to feel I am not alone.
Bless you.
