I could only say have faith,,, an if u do get pregnant focus on day by day..i know its easier said then done ,,,, but try too.. an remeber u are not alone many women go through this ,i did too, an the fears we all have them , but have hope ,,, an most of all faith. u are in my prayers

As hard as it is for me to say, as I know the despair and helplessness you must be feeling, I will also say have hope. I cannot say that I even have hope for myself right now, but it helps that I truly believe you should have hope...that alons makes me realize that I should too. I think if all of us keep supporting each other, it will not only help the one you are supporting, but yourself too. I wonder every day if I will have a healthy child. But I think that if we can hold onto hope, it will help get you and I and everyone else here through the long days. What has your doctor told you? Have you asked if you think he/she believes you can have a healthy baby? I am so, so sorry for the pain and loss I know you are feeling. I really am sending you a huge hug right now.

I am so sorry for you losses. I have had two miscarriages in a row, then had a healthy baby.
My sister is in the same situation now. Lost two babies, now she is 22 weeks pregnant.
I went through the testing, but didn't get much information. If there is a fair chance of having a healthy baby, and you can handle risking another mc, then it seems like trying again might be the way to go.

I also am so sorry for your losses. I know the whole fantasy of an easy pregnancy is now shattered, but I can tell you that I had two mc in a row and then had a healthy baby girl with no complications whatsoever, except my nerves. We then had another mc, but then another healthy baby girl. The doctors have not been able to tell me why this keeps happening, because we are now having a fourth miscarriage, but I will tell you that looking at my two beautiful girls definitely helps make it through the hard days. Please keep trying, I think it is so worth it, adoption is also a wonderful option, but not without it's heartache as well. I don't think one path in necessarily eaiser then the other, so if you want to have a baby, I wouldn't give up! There are definitely happy endings, even though now that seems so far away.

I cant really say much as I just had my first m/c on 6/16/09..but I do know ho wit feels to be afraid to try again. We want to also (yes it's a bit too soon) but I am scared that I will end up getting all excited and then m/c again. I would try again if I were you. It's good that you can see a specialist. we are left with only natural methods as neither of us have insurance or can afford such treatments. Thank you for sharing your story. Please dont give up i know you are afraid I think we all are, my story is a little similar to yours we have been trying for what seems like forever and i have had 3 miscarrages and 1 etopic but there is no way i am giving up hope that one day i will have a baby of my own, at the moment we are undergoing tests to find out what has went wrong and hopefully we can put it right. But you can get pregnant so that is half the battle, so stay strong and have a little faith and one day it will happen for you sending you lots of love xxx

I am so sorry for your losses and for all the sorrow and frustration that you are going through now as you decide which road to take. I had my first m/c in May 2008 at 17.5 weeks. I also had lots of testing done and no definitive answers. We started trying again as soon as we were allowed and I had a loss at 5 weeks in Dec (my Dr called it a chemical pregnancy because it got started, but for some reason just never progressed). I was so devastated. Like you, I read that statistically the odds were against me for 2 losses in a row. More lab work and testing with no abnormal results. We decided to keep trying, but to go ahead and look into adoption- we felt that would take some of the pressure off (because I was truly obssessed). Lo and behold, I found out in Jan that I was pregnant again. I am currently 26 weeks along with a little baby girl. This pregnancy has been fine so far except for my worrying. My only advice is don't give up. Keep that little spark of hope alive. Whatever you decide, whether to keep trying or to adopt, I truly believe that if you want a child, you will be blessed with one. I'll be praying for you!

I've had 2 miscarriages, and all the specialist tell me that I'm still a blank slate, and I have the same miscarriage risk as anybody else next time. Apparently they don't officially change your risk until you've had 3 miscarriages. The majority of women who have had 2 miscarriages still go on to conceive a healthy child. (I guess the rule of thumb is that lightning can strike twice in OB).

This site has been a huge help to me, and I hope it helps you get through this too. There's an infertility group as well, for people trying IUI and IVF, and a lot of people here belong to both discussion groups.

Hoping the statistics hold true for us here, and that third times a charm!

Thank you to everyone who has replied for all your words of support and encouragement. I do count myself very lucky that I have the ability to go through infertility treatments because of our insurance, and that beyond that, we also have family who would give us the money to adopt if the need arose. I realized how blessed I am to have the support I do, and I think it's gone a long way in helping me maintain a positive outlook on everything. I think I may wait a while actually, before trying again. I feel like after focusing for so long on trying to have a baby, maybe it's time for a break to focus on other things. I may take a while to travel with my husband, we have always wanted to go to Paris...and also get in as good a shape as possible before the next round. It may give my body and my mind some time to recharge, and might also take some stress off of my husband for a while. Either way, I know I'll get to be a parent someday and that keeps me smiling. The only things I can say is I am sorry for your loss. I have just had my third loss so I understand your concerns. I have had almost all the tests, I go in for more in a couple of weeks. I have also had a cyst burst and a twisted ovary, your problem is not conceiving so keep trying if you want to. If you can't take the loss again give it some time and maybe when it's not so fresh in your mind you'll want to trry again. My thoughts are with you.

So sorry for your losses. I understand your worries. I have a 2 yr old that I conceived on the 1st try and then went on to have 4 m/c.. (2 chemical at wk 5, 1 blighted ovum and another recent one that had heartbeat at 6wks and then not at 7wks). I am very healthy and fit person and still hopeful despite the statistics. We also had all testing done with no answers... I think also we need to have faith and just keep trying as difficult as it can be. The one thing I learned is to try to take the mental focus off getting pregnant and owrrying about what caused the m/c and really focus on taking care of yourself and putting yourself first -- cardio exercise, yoga/meditation or something that allows you to relax, eat well, and surround yourself with family and friends..

So sadly I haven't yet made it to the doctor for them to begin the miscarriage profile. I was actually scheduled to go on thursday but ended up in the hospital instead. In fact, this miscarriage has been absolutely horrible physically (they're all horrible emotionally) and I feel like my doctor didn't prepare me at all. I assumed I would have pain and cramping, and bleeding like a very heavy period. My first miscarriage was like that, and within about a week it had passed. I was not prepared for PAIN, so much pain that vicodin did little in the way of easing it. On thursday I had a particularly painful morning, but thought it was just much of the same. As I was on the way to the doctor the pain increased to the point where I couldn't see straight and knew if I didn't pull off the road immediately I would end up in a wreck. I pulled off at a travel plaza, managed to get myself in the bathroom just in time to hemorrhage all over the floor. I have never in my life been in such pain, nor have I ever seen so much blood. I couldn't stand. I called me husband who immediately left work to come get me, but I knew I needed to get to a hospital sooner than that, and ended up calling an ambulance. At the hospital I soaked the bed with blood and finally passed a large placenta, after which the bleeding slowed and the pain lessened. The staff there was wonderful, and explained to me that this amount of bleeding and pain was fairly common and that it was inevitable that I end up going to the hospital, as I could not have managed the pain and bleeding on my own. My husband was so mad at my doctor for not warning me about this possibility and, upon reflection, so am I. She led me to believe that my miscarriage would be no more than a very bad period, and even the vicodin that I was taking wasn't prescribed by her, after being in so much pain my friend (who has sadly gone through 6 losses herself) gave me some of hers.
Why didn't my doctor better prepare me for all this?
I still hope to find some cause for the miscarriages through testing, but either way I have decided to try one more time and will begin hormone therapy again in a few months. In the meantime I will take the advice that many of you have given and spend time treating myself well and spending time with family and friends.
