Progesterone Levels???

I took 2 rounds of clomid and then got pregnant. I miscarried in August. I just went today to start my second round of clomid since the miscarriage. My dr. said at my follow up visit that my progesterone on day 21 was 11.7 before the miscarriage and that was ok but could be better. I asked today and they said they like it to be 15. The dr. checked my day 21 progesterone for last month and it was 0.8. So now they have upped my dosage to 3 pills for 5 days of the clomid (I think this is as high as you can go on this medication) and want me to come back on day 21 for another progesterone level. I guess I have 2 questions for all of you (1) Any one have any advice or experience with low progesterone levels, and (2) I am now wondering could my low progesterone be the cause of my miscarriage. I have heard of people taking progesterone supplements when they get pregnant and I wonder if I should. I plan on asking at my next visit. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I don't know the answer to #1, but yes, low progesterone can definitely cause a miscarraige. Progesterone is the hormone that sustains pregnancy. I would ask for progesterone suppositories, and if that doc won't give you any, find one who will! I had a friend who this was her problem (had 7 miscarraiges) and when she finally found a doc who would do it, that month she got pregnant and finally carried full term!

I have PCOS and am going throug the ritual of progesterone testing, ovulation testing and all the like. I had 2 rounds of clomid 50 mg when I got pregnant. They told me my levels were ok. When I went back for my post D/C my doctor said my progesterone level was low normal when I got pregnant. This could have affected the pregnancy.I did take progesterone during the pregnancy and started very early on. I still miscarried. I am getting ready to start my first round post D/C. I would definitely talk to your doctor about taking progesterone during the pregnancy. Usually you just need it during the first trimester. Hope this helps. Send me a msg if you want more info.

My doctor says progesterone supplements may help (evidence is mixed but positive), and certainly won't hurt. I'd say "go for it".

I took them for my first pregnancy when my hormone levels dipped - and everything turned out fine. I was told I didn't need them for my second, and it ended in miscarriage. Coincidence? I don't know. But I know I'm taking them next time around.

I took progesterone to prevent m/c for the first 11- 12 weeks of my last pregnancy, as well as, this pregnancy. If your progesterone levels are low it can cause a m/c. I used First-Progesterone VGS 100 Cut. These are inserted directly in the vag. I also believe it can be taken as a shot. It really did help. Mayb cause some extra weight gain and drowsiness though.
