It's a year today since I lost my baby. Even though it was at the back of my mind it could happen, it was still so unexpected. It took over a year to conceive this baby and I was so sure I had finally had my breakthrough. I'll never forget seeing the scan of the wee baby and no heartbeat and the feeling of the world crumbling around me. Since then it's been a journey of grief of losing the baby, watching 10 different people go on to have their babies (and counting!), and the overwhelming disappointment every month to find out I'm not pregnant again, especially when my period was due Christmas day and even today of all days! My whole family, except my mother, swept the whole thing under the rug, no one phoned my to say they were sorry when they heard the news, no one mentioned it ever again like I was never pregnant in the first place. I just wish someone would msg me or phone me and say I'm thinking of you today, like I've done for others who have lost family, so I wouldn't feel so completely alone.
Anyway with the new year I'm going to try and put this behind me more and move on. Try and do more that makes me happy and leave the sadness behind. All the best to you all because I know many are in the same boat xxx

Hello stepbystep. I am so sorry you lost your sweet baby. Your story is so devastating. Seeing the scan and the baby not having a heartbeat. That is so sad. I lost my baby a couple of days before I was supposed to have my first ultrasound. I supposed if I had made it to my ultrasound I would have been looking at a screen with no heartbeat either. The doctors said in their report that my baby had been dead for quite some time. I still miss my baby every day. This August will have been 8 years. It still hurts on the anniversary of my baby's passing. My family has swept it under the rug as well. Except for my mom. Some of my family even was like well I would have figured you would have two or three kids by now and a man. Like my first and most likely only baby never mattered at all. Every year since my baby died someone in my family has had a baby. I even had to plan a couple of the baby showers. The first one was the hardest. You should have people in your life that you can talk to about this. For everyone to treat you this way is insensitive and hurtful. I just want to give you a big hug. I hope the new year has been kind to you. I am here if you ever want to talk.

Me too! It will be one year for me next week on the 27th. And I'm also not pregnant yet. It seems like everyone else is, even here on DS. I'm so sorry you lost your baby. Please be my friend :)

Hi. I wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. I think one of the hardest part of going through this is how isolated and alone you feel. Thats why I came here. I'm so sorry for your loss. Its inspiring to see that you continue to stay hopeful, strong, and positive. I had a miscarriage last July/Aug. I've been blessed/lucky enough to get pregnant again. I am scared Every. Single. Day. You never forget your first.

I'm sorry your family has been so unsupportive. My mom made my MC all about her, somehow. My sisters were pretty great but all of them had also been there before and I think they understood the pain and the isolation. Losing a child is not something people are at all comfortable talking about.

Good luck on your TTC journey. It's good to have hope. It took 13 months for us to conceive the first time and now we are back on the bandwagon again too. I know I'm going to be terrified if I get pregnant again. (Not if, WHEN!!!! See, positive thoughts!)

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! After I wrote this I felt a bit bad, like I was moaning and some people do have it worse with multiple miscarriages etc. It was a journey I thought I'd never have to take and it's a long one. Thanks to all you ladies who have made me feel less alone through it all! God Bless and hope we all get there in the end xx
