My in-laws did not say much either....I don't think they know what to say, not that they don't care. Your family probably does not know what to say or do not want to say the wrong thing. Hang in there, it will get better!
I think a lot about what I wish I had gotten from people and what I would do for a friend or a sister if she were in this situation. I have one friend who lives here who came over to my house with flowers and chocolate when I told her, and who checked on me and asked how I was doing. If only there were more people like her in the world! In general, I've been hurt by the lack of support
My wife has been very supportive but I have found myself picking at her a few times. I can usually tell right away I am just projecting my annoyance of others lack of understanding on her. She told me the only thing that makes her feel better is Supporting me. I'm sure your husband feels the same way, but sometimes no matter how someone acts or what they say it's not the right thing because we are just to upset. Be gentle on yourself:)
I felt the same way. I actually got into a huge argument with my husband and my mother. You would expect those are the people that would support me the most, but instead they basically wanted me to get over it. They would tell me "things happen for a reason."
I want to know the reason why it happened to me!
I wish they would of been a little more caring, but I also understand that they don't know what to say because this never happened to anyone else in our family.
Hang in there. I know I am trying. You will never forget and you should never forget.
The night that I miscarried my husband was out of town and I went over to a friend's house and spent the night on her floor. She gave me some advice that was really helpful to me getting through this with my marriage intact. She had had 4 miscarriages herself and she said that at that time she had shut her husband out because she felt like it was something happening to her, not to him. But she told me to remember that it was his loss as well as mine, and not to discount him. That's been really helpful to me because everytime I start thinking 'he doesn't understand' I remind myself that it was his baby and he can feel or react anyway he likes to his own loss. I don't expect him to feel all the same things as me about it, but it has been incredibly helpful just knowing that he sees all the pain I go through. He might not understand, but he doesn't judge me. I think it's also really common and understandable to get angry at your spouse.
I totally agree with you... It was nothing like having a period. I was the day I found out the baby didn't have a heart beat (was a Friday) my dr scheduled me to have a DNC on Monday. I should of been 9 weeks and the baby didn't grow past 7 weeks. With my luck I ended up miscarrying naturally the next day.
It was horrible. This is what scares me about trying again, but I know I want children. I just don't want to experience this again. I envy those who have gone through this more than once. I am truly amazed with the strength they have.
The doctor told me to wait to get my 1st cycle which I did. We are trying again. I should be getting my period shortly so cross our fingers. I just hate the waiting part of it. Yesterday I was really emotional about the miscarriage and I don't know what caused it. Probably my hormones going crazy or just that time of the month.
The wait really stinks. Good Luck to you!
Hi. I'm sorry about your loss. I def agree with you. Miscarrying was not like getting your period. I lost my baby at 6wk4days. Did not miscarry until I was about 9 1/2 weeks. So I was waiting for almost a month. It was terrible. I swear I had contractions and it has to be like labor (obviously at smaller scale). VERY PAINFUL TOO. I also have been trying to be more understanding towards my husband. I think we sometimes get angry and want someone to blame. My aunt told me "we resent the ones we love the most". She has experienced 3 miscarriages.
